its a fresh calibre installation, but i discovered that it appears that it was trying to open the markdown version with calibre instead of the kfx one, i guess the plugin creates a markdown version of the KFX file as well? (the created date time stamps are the same). Either way, the .MD file is binary (has null bytes in it) so it doesn't appear to be a real markdown file

but you are correct that reading the file as KFX with the calibre built in reader seems to work

Kindle for PC/Mac uses the file extension .md for KFX metadata. It is one component of the KFX book.

@jhowell...I think there's a problem with the KPF to epub conversion using your new plugin version(v1.21).

I've been using the same KPF file for test for several months which has converted KPF files to epub without problems on all previous versions of your plugin. But it always fails on v1.21. I've also used several other different KPF files with the new version of your plugin and these also fail with the same multiple 'Reference Fragment...' errors. And all KPF files that fail with your plugin are converted and display without problems in Kindle Previewer 3. I've also re-installed the new version of the KFX Input plugin several times with no difference in outcome, it still fails conversion to epub.

All my Calibre plugins are currently up to date. I am using the KFX Input(v1.21) with the KFX output plugin(v1.32).

I'm on Windows 10(with Windows Update enabled) and I'm using Calibre v4.2 and Kindle Create v1.32.1.

Any ideas?

Kindle Create version 1.32 produces KPF files with additional data that was not present in files generated by previous versions of that program. The next release of the KFX Input plugin will handle that new data.

@jhowell...Just to let you know that v1.22.0 of your plugin is now working without problems with conversions from KPF to Epub format. I converted a fairly large KPF file, that contained many images with a complex doc TOC, and it handled that without any problems at all.Thanks again.

I am using Kindle for PC 1.24.3. I have installed the dedrm plugin and kfx inport plugin. However, when I try to import the azw file in the folder downloaded by Kindle for PC, it finally show up in Calibre as an azw3 ebook instead of kfx ebook. And I checked the ebook's folder, the .azw.res file was not imported. I have tried on my Mac, still having the same problem.

Not all books will be KFX format. That may be one that's only available as azw3.
