You can get to the original post by clicking on the blue square with the white triangle in it.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about audio books and whispersyncing. Sorry.

There is a link to the audio book near the buy now button on the ebook product page.

Underneath the ebook main description, there is the small-print bar showing "features". In that area, it says, "Audible book: Available" and hovering over that shows the price / Whispersync info. (Screenshot attached.)

I think they only make a big deal of it when you can add audio under a certain price threshold. Otherwise they just stick it in that area now.

I had left the Audible tab open and my device on, overnight. I was surprised to find that the Whispersync information on the Audible product page had disappeared. I know you guys will be skeptical, but I checked again just a moment ago, and the notice was there again! I am guessing that the webpage had refreshed itself, but I don't know why the notice would have disappeared to begin with.

I'm glad that there is a notice, albeit small, on the ebook product page. I infer that the other ebooks with Whispersync narration also have that or some other form of notification on their webpages.

Postwar: A History of Europe Since 1945
by Tony Judt

is $1.99 at U.S. stores

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Postwar-Histo...t%2C413&sr=1-1

Kobo: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/pos...ope-since-1945

Below is the blurb:
**Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize

Winner of the Council on Foreign Relations Arthur Ross Book Award

One of the New York Times'Ten Best Books of the Year**

Almost a decade in the making, this much-anticipated grand history of postwar Europe from one of the world's most esteemed historians and intellectuals is a singular achievement. Postwar is the first modern history that covers all of Europe, both east and west, drawing on research in six languages to sweep readers through thirty-four nations and sixty years of political and cultural change-all in one integrated, enthralling narrative. Both intellectually ambitious and compelling to read, thrilling in its scope and delightful in its small details, Postwar is a rare joy.

I had barely heard of Storey Publishing. But I ran across an ebook published by them, that I was intrigued by, and found has great ratings (4.5 stars, from lots of review). It was a buy for me.

Being interested in what else that they might have on sale, I did a search on Amazon for "storey publishing," filtered by price, and limited to the "Kindle store". I came across a colossal number of ebooks on sale, and they "all" had consistently great ratings!

Scanning over a bunch of titles, I get the impression that Storey seems to be a less staid, less sophisticated, more playful version (so to speak) of the venerable publisher Rodale. Storey publishes, it appears to me, a lot of books on such subjects as gardening, simple cooking, getting back to a simpler lifesyle--those kinds of things.

The book that I bought is one on building everything from old-fashioned sheds to building tiny houses. It is written by Derek "Deek" Deadrickson. It is $2.99; the retail price of the paper-based version is something between $15 and $16. (I'm seriously thinking about building a tiny house to move into when I have my real retirement).

The link to the Amazon search that I did: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=%22storey...f=aa_sbox_sort. As usual, Amazon's sort-by-price feature doesn't work well (why don't they fix that?!). But you'll find lots of $2.99 titles, and a few even cheaper.

Hope you find some good stuff.

Amazon searches have gone downhill in recent years. Trying to find a match to an exact title just isn't possible.

Here my recent complaint that Advanced Search on Publisher now has to be exact.
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=324429

No responses.

BUT my experience of Advanced Search on Title is that it works as well as it ever did.

So Advanced Search on Title Ignition starts with

Ignition!: An Informal History of Liquid Rocket Propellants (Rutgers University Press Classics)

Which is reasonable as is a Advanced Search on Title "on Basilisk station "

Talking to Strangers by Matcolm Gladwell is on sale at amazon for $4.99
https://www.amazon.com/Talking-Stran...dp/B07NDKVWZW/

It was published a little over 60 days ago.

I've not read anything by Gladwell yet, but I'm going to give this one a try.

One thing of note for the people in the audiobooks aren't reading wars, the author says the best way to experience the book is as audio. I'll be getting the kindle version.

As usual for Gladwell, the reviews are mixed. The top 2 on amazon are 2 stars, followed by a bunch of 4 and 5 star reviews.

FWIW--GoodReads is even worse.

I suspect that almost all companies (except, for example, Google, of course), have to have their search engines purchased "out of house," not built by their IT guys. If that is the case, the more that the company pays, the better their search engine is likely going to be. It's like a person buying a house or a car--you basically get what you pay for.

I, for one, have not noticed Amazon's search engine getting worse, and I've been a customer since the days in the late 1990's, when Amazon was just a bookstore. The one exception is the sorting/filtering by price feature. It definitely seems to have gotten worse--the results of a search by price, now, seem almost to have no bearing on what you ask their search engine to do.

60% Off on Book about Donald Trump.

It's Trump's Media War.

Editors: Happer, Catherine, Hoskins, Andrew, Merrin, William.

Published very recently--this year (2019).

The blurb:
Features short, sharp contributions from both academics and journalists, two of whom were on the Trump campaign trail
Extremely topical and addresses current issues related to Trump, such as his celebrity persona, election campaign, press conferences and relationship with the mainstream media
Looks at the political use of Twitter, social media and the internet in general

Book is $9.99; list price is $24.99. So, the discount is a nice 60%. Price is valid through November 21.
