Current firmware is already 5.12 so if it automatically updated, I would expect that and not 5.10.2. |

indain variant support?
Is the India variant PW4 G001 0209 5.10.0.2 supported?
There was a thread about it https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...=314044&page=3 but it was never finalized with clear instructions. |

@yahalome: Yes. (If it's in the wiki table, it's supported).
That said, I wasn't aware the Indian PW4s supported FW 5.10.0.2. AFAICT, they appeared w/ 5.10.1.3... |

Hi, So what's the story with FW 5.12.2 (besides that it's totally evil). I read that there is no solution if it updated PW4(2018) post successful JB and KUAL install, and then broke it. Anyway to go the manual screensaver update/change?

Hi,
Can someone provide some insight please. I decided to jailbreak the PW4 and I'm wondering the following: 1. If I have 5.10.2 or 5.10.1 can I still replace with a modded 5.10.3 firmware, this is more of a question for the future endeavours when I get accustomed to updating firmware. Is it better to always jailbreak with the same version or everything goes <= ? 2. I see the recent 5.12.2 has become problematic, does that mean that the auto update will take me directly from 5.10 to 5.12.x? I would like the features like reading themes on a kindle, does that mean I have to update manually to < 5.12 ? Thanks! |

@Ico:
1. <= really means <=, yeah ![]() 2. Yup, an auto-update will rarely (if ever) jump to something that isn't the latest and "greatest". |

Do note, I think the forced auto-updates (with update.bin.tmp.partial overwrite) started with 5.11.x.

Thank You both for your reply.
One other thing, although I would like reading themes what I would really like is an option for custom fonts. I tried adding ChareInk in the fonts folder but it is not displayed as an option in neither azw3 or kfx. I digged a bit somewhile back and someone said the fw version was too low. Do You know the safe version of fw where that is possible seeing that Ilovejedd said 5.11. was a no go? I tried looking for version history but it is poorly maintained and sometimes not all features are named. Thank You! |

Custom fonts have been available since 5.9.6, iirc.
I just checked my PW4 running 5.10.1.3 and it has themes support (same version with factory fw available and still supports SKIP_UPDATE_CHECK). |
