The original content in the dc:description field is replaced — I can only assume by Calibre — by the limited html content of the Calibre comments field. The epub file in the library (on the computer) is not affected. My question is whether it would be possible to introduce an option to leave the epub dc-description field unchanged. |

Disable the epub metadata writer plugin and calibre wont touch metadata in epub files.

If you have Windows - for the book details panel goto:

	C:\Program Files\Calibre2\app\resources\templates or C:\Program Files (x86)\Calibre2\app\resources\templates and edit the 'book_details.css' file. |

You dont need to edit the file manually, simply go to Prefrences->Look & feel->Book details and edit it there.

				Forgive beating a dead issue...

I have read the threads mentioned as to the changes in the formatting of the book description panel due to changes in the html QT Webkit et al.

Asking for clarification on " Originally Posted by kovidgoyal - Disable the epub metadata writer plugin and calibre wont touch metadata in epub files." Will disabling this plug-in make the descriptions reverse the changes showing in all current epub files/books or only will it impact only future additions? Asking because I have 114,000 books (by title) all in one library and really would like to do this correctly the first time. Am also asking for suggestions as to batch these changes. Thanking anyone in advance who can help. Am an old lady with just enough tech info to get myself into lots of trouble if I'm not REALLY careful. Thanks again to anyone who can help me out. p.s. since the listing feature no longer works properly (auto-numbering and bulleted lists) will these buttons be removed from the details pane or are these supposed to still work? really miss them if no longer supported... Making the change will not fix Metadata in any books already exported (nor if you polished the Library copy).

The dust is still settling. We might want to wait on toolbar adjustments. |

Lists I created pre version 4.0 display okay. But if I add to an existing list I have to adjust the bottom-margin of what was to the last item to 0px to avoid waste vertical space. That's a manifestation of the generic problem with WYSIWYG HTML editors - they don't produce consistent output. I can't find any downloaded Comments with lists in them. BR |
