I finally got around to reading The Aeronaut's Windlass. Enjoyable. I really liked the varied characters and their unique personalities and speech.

I think it has at least as much potential as Alera - I hope he gets around to developing the series someday...

Finished Ghost Story and began the reread of Cold Days. Also I read Monsters and agree with DuckieTigger that it takes place after Skin Game.

My single most favourite thing in Monsters was the appearance of even worse guys than usual. Fantastic. A worthy snark to remember.

Hi all. It's been a month since anyone posted here so I thought that I would post a few words just to fill the void. I've been doing a re-read of The Dresden files (I've re-read them several times before this time) and I kinda paused at book 14, Cold Days since Jim announced this on twitter 5 months ago:

Finished the finale of Peace Talks this morning.

Just the wrap-up chapter to go.

News regarding pub dates as I get it.

... and so far for book 16, Peace Talks there is still no publication/release date that's been announced.

Anyway I inserted into my reading a sci-fi book called The Last Dance to slow my re-read down a bit. I recommend it even though I've since paused it at 27% to do a major overhaul on my personal database of books as it somehow got corrupted.

Yeah, The Last Dance was a nice read (in last months First Reads). Cpt Aames sure is a unique character.

Yes. Many of the First Reads have a new version on official release. The book itself won't be updated, except possibly some typo fixes. There might be few changes in the front or back matter, maybe when outside reviews are included.

I usually always let First Reads update.
