Can you restore to default in Calibre Editor?

Some time ago, I was able to make very basic changes in the texts of books I was reading where there were scanning errors, or other formatting problems. Somewhere along the way I did something that completely changed what I was looking at on the screen.

Looking at Calibre's Use Manual, it seems to be the File Browser that I'm looking for, but I don't see any control that would bring that to the screen.

So, is there a restore to default option anywhere?

Thank you. Clearly I need to do something else because the default button doesn't bring up the browser window. No doubt I did something to some setting in the past that's screwed things up. I was afraid there wasn't an easy fix, which is why I delayed so long asking my question.

If you choose the View option from the Editor menu, 'File browser' is one of the checkboxes you can tick.

Thanks. So it is. But the resulting screen you get doesn't produce any text when you double click on any of the entries. I guess what I was hoping for was some way to send the Editor back to where it was the first time I opened it. You had a list of chapters on the left and the text showed changes on the right. Otherwise, the program is too complicated for someone with as little knowledge of CSS as I do.

OH You want the View Menu: That is where the Book Browser and File Browser are controlled (and some other stuff like 'Preview' )

I don't know what you mean. For me, double-clicking a filename in the 'File browser' pane opens its HTML code in its own tab in the central Editor pane.

If not:

• open the calibre configuration directory (there's a button in Preferences Miscellaneous)
• close calibre and the editor
• delete tweak_book_gui.json
• restart calibre and open the editor
• now you should have default settings

To reclaim the toolbuttons space above an HTML editor, I think you just need to use Edit-Prefs-Toolbars to remove all the entries from
- Tools for all editors
- Tools for HTML editors
- Text formatting actions

Sorry to be so slow at this. Took me a bit of time to understand that maybe when I quit Calibre that the configuration file would stay available so that I could delete the appropriate line.

In any event, your directions worked and I now have the page available that I'm familiar with. Thanks for your patience, which I know I tried.

Thanks, that did it - I've been looking in View->Toolbars, hoping Mr Godot Micawber would turn up
