I have been using Nook 7.8" since May and read a few books on it. I have no issues with sideloading since Calibre did an update for the new device a week later. The comfort light is nice, better than the kobo/Oasis I feel. Does not seem to run down the battery as much as the comfort light on the Oasis. Battery life is not as good as kobo but better than the oasis. Does not overheat outside. I took it to a park a few times to read already. I am overall happy with it. I have one dead pixel but not noticeable unless the background is completely black
Sorry for bad grammar. My keyboard sticks and I am not wearing my glasses ![]() |

Cover of sleeve choice?
Finally my nook glowlight plus 7.8 that I ordered at our local barnes&noble arrived at the store. Now I need to protect it. What case of sleeve do other people here recommend and use?

I personally use a homemade cloth sleeve as I prefer to use it without the extra bulk. There are some covers on Amazon if that’s more your style. |

Kaysclie, how do you like it? I stopped by my local BN on my way somewhere today and was playing with one. The screen really is nice. (Of course there was not one person working in the Nook section of the store... maybe a good thing as I might have made an impulse purchase!)

In response to how do I like my new Nook Glowlight plus 7.8, I have to say it is terrific! I really do enjoy the large screen..and I have no dead pixels..so hopefully they have corrected that earlier problem. I use calibre for all of my books and sideload them all. The comfort light makes reading so much nicer on my eyes, especially at night. And the buttons...I love them for page turning!!
Probably you can tell, I absolutely love my new Nook 7.8 ![]() |

I saw a nice case on amazon for $13 but I bought mine at B&N. Overpriced but fits the device well |

I like mine. First Nook I liked since the 2010 model. Glowlight is really nice, Battery life is good for the size. I really have nothing negative to say about it. I wish we had more screen savers available and more font/size options but I like it. I like the read a book for free every month. Every day they release a chapter. |

I currently read on a 1st gen kindle Oasis (mainly because I have to have buttons on my ereader) now that I'm starting to get into bifocal/transition lense stage of life, I am wondering about moving to a bigger screen.
How does the weight of the 7.8nook compare to the Oasis? I know you can compare the weight, but I'm looking for someone who has used both and can give me an impression that is more than just a comparison of two Numbers. Thanks! |

If it goes in sale during the holidays I'm getting one. Yeah the software might not be so hot. But if no sale I will probably still get it....

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. I read one handed and while I can use my oasis with the cover, anything heavier is a no-go unless the balance addresses the weight. |

I own the Nook 7.8" and the 7" Oasis and to be all honest I never noticed the weight difference. The Nook is expected to be heavier since it has a bigger screen but it is not at all heavy to hold and I read with one hand. It weighs 9.6 ounces and the oasis is 6.8 ounces i believe |

That said, it's of course possible to get used to the extra weight. I did. But again, people are different. |

I say go to a B&N store and play with a model. To me nook feels more like a book esp. when in a BN case. Also I’m sure yo can return if you had to order online
