Forgot just how short that was! Only half of it was the book - the other half interviews with the recent film crew, very shocked to suddenly finish it! Now purchased Ben Elton's Blind Faith after reading the extract that came on my 505. Amusing, but like every other Ben Elton book (which is not a very bad thing!).

Not counting the free books for the Kindle... The last book was The Arabian Nights 16 book edition with table of contents.

I was a little disappointed because the table of contents only lets you jump to each book, not each individual story

Just bought the three Hal Spacejock novels because I liked the first free one
and got Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet because of all the recommendations I found here
So you can say my latest purchases are verry mobileread-related ....

I actually broke down and bought 3 books from the Sony Library - I just wanted to read a book - not de-drm and convert - I finished "Dead Lines" by Greg Bear - wasn't what I expected - more Stephen Kingish than sf IMO. It was ok.

Now on Bernhard Schlink's "The Reader", which is not quite the last book I bought (it was a de-DRM experiment that some MobileRead people helped me with a couple of weeks ago) but is at least recent.

It is also excellent - not seen the film yet, and I have no idea how you can film a book which has almost no dialogue, but is full of powerful thoughts and emotions. Highly recommended.

I haven't managed to actually BUY an ebook yet, as I've just joined the ebook gang, and there are so many freebies. I also don't actually know HOW to buy one yet either !

Last (non e)books I bought. (I'm lazy to shop, so over time I add to my with list, then buy in bulk and consume in bulk )

Kafka on the Shore - mmm... weird throughout - and incest isn't my cup of tea
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - loved it, no. 2 please!
The Wheel of Time (book 1)- still busy and loving it
The Kite Runner - fascinating, absorbing
A Thousand Splendid Suns - heartbreaking
The Graveyard Book - didn't like it much
The Hunger Games - brilliant, cried my eyes out!
The Story of Edgar Sawtell - feeling of gloom and doom throughout, and finally (as a BIG dog lover myself) I was disappointed!

Just stocked up at the Fictionwise NYT Best Sellers Sale (sadly the day before the "impress our new bosses" 10% coupon code arrived - always the way, but since I bought the books with micropay money can't really complain).

The White Tiger
Outliers (Malcolm Gladwell's newest)
The Secret Life of Bees
World Without End (Ken Follett)
A Thousand Splendid Suns
Almost Moon
Still Alice

These should, together with the Southern Comfort Vampire Series I downloaded earlier this month get me through to the end of my two week vacation in April.

Wanted to echo dragonbone's plug for The Girl with the Green Dragon Tattoo (also available on the NYT Bestseller sale right now) - I read it last month and it was excellent. Can't wait for the last two of the trilogy to make their way out of Sweden into my hot little english speaking hands.

Hey MelC,
Welcome! I'm still new here too and very new to ebooks. All of one week and loving it here . Great and informative forum this, plus people are civil and nice.
YES!! I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and really got the atmosphere and mood of Sweden! I've never read a novel from any of those Scandinavian countries, so it was a real treat.
I loved World Without End and the Secret Life of Bees! Seems like we have similar tastes, so I may just check out your other new books!

Veronika Decides to Die - Paulo Coelho

That was only my 2nd purchase. Other than UR - Stephen King, the books on there are from the free domain.

Books 2,3, & 4 of the Hal Spacejock series, from Spacejock himself's links to them at the Freemantle site. If you are looking for funny, try them. Book 1 is free and uploaded here at MR. Spacejock's real name is Simon Haynes, in case you might want to search by author.

They are $5 in Australian money, and the conversion to US dollars made it $9.85 out of pocket. (YAY for a US dollar that is actually stronger than somebody else for a change!)

Thanks for the welcome. I should caveat that I haven't actually read any of the ones that I purchased so other than "Almost Moon", "Outliers" and "World without End" who have other books by the same author that I have read and enjoyed the rest were pretty much on a whim/recommendation. Hopefully they will all be good. One of the great things about the Cybook is that if I end up on vacation with a dog of a book there are lots of other ones to choose from and I haven't exceeded my luggage weight.

ETA: I loved the Swedish perspective as well. Although it took me some time to adapt to a hero named "Blomkvist". North American sensibilities kept telling me his name should be "Bond" or "Mason" or "Davis" or "Bourne". Sigh... Need to read more Scandinavian books clearly.
