You sure spend a lot of time defending the Apple programmers. The fact that you have to speaks volumes about the state of development at Apple. Three plus months of beta should have yielded much better code than what we got with iPadOS. It is much too unstable to be in release and way to frigging unstable for them to have already stopped signing iOS 13.x.y. That old Apple BS that shiny and new makes up for buggy just doesn’t work any more.

As far as the current iPadOS software, all I can say is that I've had no problems with it and have been using it rather extensively since it was released. Other people might be having problems, but for the most part I haven't heard of any major issues. If your point is that Apple should permit users to roll back to the previous version for a longer period of time, then I absolutely agree with you. I think you should always be able to roll back to the previous version. Poking around a bit, I suspect maybe you misunderstand what they are saying when it's reported that they have stopped signing iPadOS 13.x. You can still downgrade to pre iPadOS 13, you just can't go from iPadOS 13.2 back to iPadOS 13.0. |

Maybe your iPad model is okay with iPadOS, but obviously my iPad Pro 9.7" is having über issues with it as seen in the attached images, and the keyboard issues are pretty bad too, as are selecting text. Numbers is nearly unusable due to the issues with the keyboards and test selection. There is a general flakiness about iPadOS on my iPad, and apparently I’m not alone. Of course some people will see, or not see, what they want to. The screwed up screen format is image one below is a very frequent occurence since installing iPadOS. It never occurred before then. From 1980s through the first part of the 2000s I worked at IBM, Computer Associates, and BMC Software in their development departments. A release like iPadOS would have caused heads to roll at any of those companies, at least back then. |

If you're running the beta versions, your issues may not pertain to the actual released version. Maybe we don't see the issue because we're not experiencing those problems that you are having. Do you really think Apple users would pretend to not have have problems, just because we like Apple products? Or to just disagree with you? |

Wouldn't it be correct to think that articles about beta versions may not apply to those not running beta versions? |

Interesting. I wonder how long it takes the work through the pre IOS 13 stock. Was this a machine you purchased online, at an Apple store, or at a 3rd party (Best Buys, etc..)?

I’m trying to shift funds around to see if I might be able to trade my iPad Pro 9.7” in on a new iPad Mini 5. But since I would be trading with Apple I doubt I would be so lucky as to get one with iOS 12 installed. iPadOS 13.1.3 doesn’t seem to have fixed much that inflicts my Pro, BTW. The screen sensitivity on my Pro has always been a little wonky, but under iPadOS that seems to have been magnified. I wonder if my Pro is plagued by bad design issues that are magnified with iPadOS. Whatever the cause, iPadOS is a mess on it and I won’t sell it to an individual as my conscience won’t let me. I’ll gladly trade it back to Apple, even though I won’t get nearly as much for it that way. It does seem that people with other models are not having as many issues as my older Pro model is on iPadOS.

I only had the funds because of selling my 12.9” Pro, and Mini 4. Air 2 is yet to go. Mind you I also bought an apple watch 5 after selling my series 1. Been busy. I am VERY pleased with the Air3, its just the right size for me. The 12.9 was overwhelming and the 9.7 just a bit small for me for photo editing now my eyes are beginning to “go”. Loving it.
I’ve also been able to resurrect an old Logitech ipad keyboard which I had for my iPad 3 but which was not interesting to anyone when I wanted to sell it. It works great and is a better option than most of whats about these days, including Apple’s own offering which is pretty naff, IMO. Last edited by kyteflyer; 10-16-2019 at 01:12 PM. |

My iPad Pro 9.7" is more than big enough screen-wise as I mostly use it for reading and internet browsing. I have never been able to use it to edit photos are to draw on. I was hoping that with the AP 1 I would find it fun to draw on, but that never really happened. Nor did I ever find myself wanting to edit photos on it due to the kind of editing I do. I routinely take dozens or even hundreds of photos for astrophotography then load the RAW into Lightroom on my MacBook Pro. Doing that requires a huge amount of storage space and processing power, neither of those are on my iPad Pro. The iPad Pro 9.7" has really nice sound, but I rarely listen to anything on it, so that kind of goes to waste. So in my case, I think going back to a Mini is the best choice for me. I wish now I had kept my Mini 2. It was kind of slow though. The Mini 5 is way faster than my iPad Pro 9.7" though, and it also can use the AP in case I want to use it a bit.

I have not had any issues with iOS 13 on my mini or Air 2 (granted once one has upgraded everything it is hard to know if iOS 13 upgrade caused a given problem), and love the new features, so the idea of pinning to iOS 12 seems sort of wrong. But YMMV.
I’m just waiting for the first (of hopefully several) reading apps to support multiple documents. This will make it easier to study languages (original on one side, translation on the other), pair a book with a notebook page (Notes for now, other apps when they add support), web page, map, or whatever, and switch between these views quickly. |
