Hi,
For all of you interested in reflective displays, here is a very interesting comparison: Live comparison of the Onyx boox Max 2 vs Dasung Paperlike Pro vs Pixel Qi : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QQkJGdiI1I Review of the amazing Pixel Qi : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOPc7hEDp5g Last edited by Antonio7; 10-17-2019 at 08:47 AM. |

It is not dead. The gentleman in the video bought it on amazon, just search for "pixel qi amazon" on a search engine, and you will find it.
It seems that Pixel Qi displays are now made by a company named "Tripuso Display Solutions". They have a website, and it seems that they offer screens up to 19 inch on their home page. Would love to see a Pixel Qi review for a large screen (bigger than 10"). Last edited by Antonio7; 10-16-2019 at 12:27 PM. |

Please provide some information about Tripuso actually producing the displays, and, especially, continuing R&D - instead of just acting as resellers and having inherited industrial properties. |

Can someone explain to be what's the big deal with Pixel Qi screens?
They are reportedly, just Transflective Screens, which have been around since HP's iPAq Pocket PC from 20 years ago. These screens also work without backlight. Article about transflective screens: https://www.ecnmag.com/article/2012/...ctive-displays What are the differences? Pixel Qi vs Transflective Display |

All I see, is that we have here a reflective technology which seems great for monitors (great refresh rate, no lag, very cheap to produce), and we end up with very laggy and overpriced eink screens. It doesnt make sense from a user point of view... |

Eink technology is great for an ereader or any static use case, but it is a bad technology for a monitor or a tablet as it has bad refresh rate and lag. Moreover Pixel Qi technology was very cheap to produce and affordable to everyone, compared to eink overpriced licenses. That aspect is important too in my opinion. |

I do not recall any information about PixelQi technology being actively developed (nor of the production being still ongoing - which would not be sensible without R&D, at least since the only current format available is the one which fit the One Laptop per Child initiative), and I have been actively searching for news, like many here, many times, periodically, reading Mary Lou Jepsen's biographies, agiographies etc. Quote:
You «end up» with the sibling (from MIT like Jepsen) E-Ink on your own free initiative, not as a "certified solution" but as a patch to the limited market interest on natural-light friendly technologies: we have been reasonably and rightfully bending the comfort zone of E-Ink ("contemplation") to a dynamic usage which was beyond the direct focus of the engineers. |
