The Ghost Writer by John Harwood is $2.99 at Amazon US.

$2.99 is a bit higher than what I would usually share when it's an author I've not read yet myself. But this book sounds much better, denser and more literary than most horror novels.

Edit: The book has been $1.99 in the past and it looks like I also picked up his book The Asylum (though clearly I haven't read it yet). He has a third book: The Séance. He seems to like writing Gothics.

This is from a specialty indie house, The Reanimated Writers Press. I read the first UW anthology and gave it 4 stars, for what that's worth.

I'm hesitant about sharing this. The author being anonymous, jeeze

But the book is published by HarperCollins, so it feels a little more legit. And it's an epistolary novel, made up of journals, news articles and online conversations. Sounds fun.

Thanks for that. I have his Dead Letters, but haven't read it yet. But I think I'll give the Halloween Tale a whirl when I finish Horrorstor. 'Tis the time of year.

Cold Storage by David Koepp is $1.99 at Amazon US.


Koepp is a famous screenwriter (Jurassic Park, Spider-Man) and director. His movies Trigger Effect, Secret Window and especially A Stir of Echoes are worth checking out.


This appears to be his first book. This looks to be a thriller in the Chrichton, Preston/Child vein, which isn't really my bag. But I gave it a shot.

I just read this a week or two ago. I really enjoyed it. Definitely worth it at that price!

I don't read much (any) horror/supernatural, but I did notice that Kindle US is having a "Save on scary reads this week on Kindle" sale through Oct 27 that seems to have a fair number of horror/supernatural titles. I wouldn't have a clue as to how to pick out good ones, so you'll just have to take a look for yourself...
