I received my Oasis 3 yesterday and I absolutely love it. The screen is not completely evenly lit, but it's close, so that's just fine with me.
Yes, the screen is more cream than white, but as long as I don't compare it to my Voyage (which is crisper AND whiter), I don't notice it. I love my Voyage, but I love holding the Oasis more. The Voyage used to fall out of my hands a lot. So I need to stop comparing every screen to the Voyage, since no other device comes close to crispness and whiteness. The one thing I noticed is how much more calm the screen is compared to the Kobo Libra. I actually decided to return the Libra after seeing the difference. |

Lots of people have asked me that and I'm not sure how else to describe it. The Kobo Libra screen felt more like a tablet/phone screen to me. When reading in the dark I got tired eyes after a while. When I switched to my Voyage I noticed that the screen looked calmer, less grainy (not the text but the 'white' of the screen), and somehow that made it better to read on.
And that's what made me decide to return the Libra and get an Oasis 3. But as lots of people have mentioned in the Kobo Libra thread, no one else seems to have this same problem with the Libra. So it could all be in my head. But to me it's very noticable and when comparing the Libra with either the Voyage or the Oasis it puzzles me that no one else seems to notice this difference. |

No, it isn't. Most people who work in front of computers and monitors all day would be blind by now, if that were true. I'm one of them and there's been no damage whatsoever to my eyes in the last 20 years (I've had my eyes thoroughly checked several times, the last time was this spring).
Blue light is linked to sleep disorders, but even that hasn't been 100% proved. |

That is a typical response a smoker gives and many do get by without cancer but does not mean it's good for you.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/fionamc...your-eyes/amp/ There are more people wearing glasses since people have been looking at screens, phones, etc than ever before. Sure you maybe lucky and no eye issues but there are many who are not so lucky. |

As to people wearing glasses more, I rather think it might be because you could get by without wearing them in the pre-internet days, even if you actually needed them. Many people simply didn't want to wear glasses back then and were ashamed of them. No one is ashamed of glasses nowadays. Also now it's usual to have your eyes checked regularly. I suspect that lots of people didn't even know they needed glasses 30 and more years ago. That was especially true of children. Still, keeping the screen brightness constantly too high probably could cause some damage over time. What's "too high" is very subjective, of course. But there certainly are people out there who don't pay enough attention to the backlight level of their devices. |

Denodan I think you've made your point by letting us know how you feel about blue light all over this forum. You might want to try to word your opinion differently instead of telling people how they should feel about it. It's your opinion, not THE truth. Just your truth.

Any idea when they make a true international version, that I can buy to here in Finland? Some Amazon pages do say it is available for delivery here, but when I actually try to order, it will complain about my address. Makes me almost wonder, if it is just bug in the system or intentional. End result still being that no Oasis 10th gen for me.

I find because you can cut out the blue light on the Oasis 3 reading is far more comfy and this alone makes the upgrade to the oasis 3 worth it and saving your eyes. I found the voyage harsh on the eye compared to oasis 3 |

I actually like the 'whiteness' of the Voyage better, but the Oasis is easier to hold and I like the 7 inch screen. So I'm currently reading on my Oasis, even though I still like the screen of my Voyage more.
And that's why there are quite a few different e-readers on the market, everyone wants something different or is most comfortable with one or the other. |

Not my truth but a lot of research pointing to blue light leads to long term eye damage. Just a warning to take care. I am not the only one here has suggested the oasis3 lighting being more comfy. Blue light at night is harmful or can be harmful if exposed to to much. They do know a cellphone used before bed can have trouble sleeping. So the Oasis 3 or kobo and others with adjustable colour temp can have a far less effect on your sleeping. |
