Of course with any large chain retailer the exact service you get depends on the local management, who may or may not strictly follow corporate policy. Probably the only way you will find out for sure is if you actually try to make the return in your local store.

I know that you are trying to make this a surprise gift. However, given that you still seem to be uncertain which model the recipient will like, and that you are concerned about returns, you may want to consider giving up on the surprise aspect and ask her which reader she would prefer.

Don't they start their "Holiday Returns" soon? Extended returns on Christmas gifts? Not exactly sure when that starts now.

You’ve also started three threads which give you the same information

1) best place for us residents to buy which gave you Walmart which isn’t a surprise since they’re the only major chain in the us to carry Kobo in stores. Which also specifically said this was for the return policy

2) best place to buy in case a return was needed- which AGAIN gave you Walmart for the same reasons as above

3) this one which a google search would have answered for you http://letmegooglethat.com/?q=What+i...return+policy+

Literally the text that pops up at the top of the results page

Quote:
Walmart Return Policy
Walmart will accept returns within 90 days after purchase. This applies to all products, with a few exceptions, such as the following: Electronics including but not limited to computers, camcorders, digital music players, and GPS units must be returned within 15 days with receipt.
Emphasis mine.

You have a wealth of information literally at your fingertips. Maybe start using it.

From the Walmart site: (very easy to find)

Walmart Holiday Extended Return Policy

As an added convenience for customers, items (Drones, computers, camcorders, digital cameras, digital music players, e-tablets, e-readers, portable video players, GPS units, video game hardware, and prepaid cell phones) purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24 will begin the 15 day return period on Dec. 26.

Walmart's return policy is usually 90 days. Electronics are an exception at 15 days then you're directed to the vendor's support unless you go for Walmart's extended coverage plan. As noted, the start of this 15 day period is deferred during the winter holidays so that gift recipients aren's screwed (and Walmart aren't sued to Hell and back for violating consumer protection laws).

The extended coverage plan is pretty straight-forward. It works like an insurance plan because, well, it is an insurance plan backed by Allstate. More information here.

NB: I got the 3-year plan with my... third? fourth? depends on how you count... Forma because my service experience with Kobo Customer "Care" was one of the worst, if not the worst, I've ever had.

Does anyone want to add 45 and 60 to the mix so we have a count of 15, 30, 45. 60, and 90 days? All but one of which is likely incorrect for the return of an electronic device to Walmart?

I'm counting on the return warranty becoming effective December 26 if purchase is after November 1.

Hopefully, this is accurate.

According to my recent purchase from Walmart, and the walmart.com web site it is 15 days for electronics. Maybe your local consumer protection laws require longer terms. I don't know; that's on you to find out for yourself.
