So who is getting the new Oasis 3???.....

I'm thinking of getting an Oasis 3, but doesn't anyone think it's just ugly? The metal silver edge and the way all the fingerprints are visible on the front. It's just so cold...

I know this is personal, but I wonder if I'm the only one who feels this way.

I think the aluminum (or whatever it's actually made of) aspect making it feel cold has been a recurring remark on the Oasis line, yeah.

(Much like the glass front of the Voyage, to a much lesser extent ).

People have commented to that effect, yes, that it is 'cold' and also slippery.

I don't own one, but I do have the Oasis 1.

Here is my subjective thoughts on the issue: I think my Kindle Voyage has the best screen I've ever seen on an ebook reader. I think the Kobo line of ebook readers have great rubber-styled backs and are wonderfully 'grippy'.

I feel both companies make great ebook readers, with each company having its own set of pluses and minuses.

I do have plans to purchase an Oasis 3, probably around Christmas time, unless I fail to wake up one morning -- .

A cover - for any ebook reader - is mandatory.

Not sure if I'd describe the backs of the O2 and O3 as cold. Maybe because I live in a hot area. . Would I like something more grippy? well maybe. Its never bothered me. I don't use a cover on it. I am using a hand strap now and its perfect for me.

It feels and looks like a premium device. Although it might be nice to have the Voyage back on it. Its more grippy I think. But it was actually more slippery for me because I didn't have enough bezel to grip it while using the buttons. It slipped out of my hands because of that. I might put a handstrap on it too to see how it goes. I wish the buttons all were like the keyboard, on the edge. No smudges and so easy to use.

Dont find it cold or slippery at all. It's the most comfy ereader on the market. Love it. Dont find it ugly at all.

I've had an Oasis 2, but actually sold it after a few months because I couldn't stop noticing how yellow the screen was.

Can anyone tell me if the Oasis 3 has this same (yellowish) screen?

You should have a yellowish screen as blue is very bad for your eyes. I found my oasis2 was blue compared to my oasis 3 and is more a cream colour. I love having a yellow tint though as it's far more resting for the eye.

And there is a hugh differince between oasis 2 and 3 as far as eye comfort goes.

Indeed the whole point of the Oasis 3 is to have a yellow screen but only when you want it.

On mine, when I put both the brightness and the warmth sliders way down (so without any light), the screen does appear somewhat yellowish, maybe more so than I remember from my PW3 (which I don't have anymore so I can't compare). With the brightness on (and warmth off) then the screen becomes much whiter.

And yes, I do mean with the warm light off. I can do the orange screen at night, but I don't like to have a yellow screen when I'm reading during the day. I always have to brightness turned on around 10/11, so how does it look then?

Here in my naturally-lit room I don’t see much difference between brightness at 10/11 and zero brightness.

I attach a few pictures so you can see. I put a sheet of white copy paper next to the screen, as a reference for “pure white”. Indeed the screen appears quite yellow next to a real sheet of paper.

First picture is at 0 brightness, 2nd is at 12 (midway), and the 3rd one is at 24 (full brightness). Warmth slider is at 0 in all cases.

Do you have a backcover for your Oasis? I only ever see the sleep covers, but I use a sleeve to keep it safe. A back cover would be interesting though. Where did you buy it?

It's actually a full cover with the front part folded behind the Oasis, the piece of paper is hiding the "hinge"

It has a soft shell, fits nicely, I'm quite happy with it.

With the warm light off I find the Oasis 3 screen to be slightly warmer than the other Kindles, but the main difference is that the screen is near perfect in evenness. There is no color gradient or shadows and cones on the side with the lights. I returned the Oasis 1 and 2 but I love the screen on the 3.

I've ordered the Oasis 3 and 2 skins as well.
My Oasis will arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm quite curious to see how I'll like the screen. I'm quite sensitive to uneven lighting so I have high hopes for this one.
