I don't know if anybody mentioned it in the patching thread for the newest firmware, but there is a problem with the screen rotation menu on the Clara HD. The words "Portrait" and "Landscape" are cut off, you can just see the half of the second letters. Also, the icon was removed from the reading menu. Is there any way to get it back? It's kind of counter-intuitive that you have to go to the main menu to change the screen rotation. If it's not possible to change this by patch, I hope Kobo will change it back again. |

Can I apply your patch with custom fonts which uploaded to book in FONTS folder? Or it applied only for pre-install fonts?

Longer answer - re-read carefully JSWolf's query in post #328 and my detailed response in post #329, especially the ETA in the second half. The only other info you might need for a sideloaded font is if your new font-family name contains spaces, in which case you would need to wrap the new name in single-quotes, something like: Code: - {Find: "font-family: Avenir;", Replace: "font-family:'My Custom Fontname';"}The patch I posted was only meant to be quick-and-dirty to let you use Georgia instead of Avenir. If/when I complete the official version it will have more help comments in the patch code.

@jackie_w I've applied your patch to change the header/footer font and It's working well with Chareink. I didn't need to us the other one to free up space in the CSS.

It's not obvious to me why Kobo decided to encapsulate what would be three icons into one in this menu, since there seems to be sufficient space to fit the adjacent text in all the scenarios I've been able to produce—I had been trying to make the text long enough that it might encroach upon the space available for icons. EDIT: Upon further inspection, what has happened makes even less sense to me. The three items which appear under the ellipsis submenu at the top right are View Details, Dictionary, and Reading Progress. Without having to click on this ellipsis icon you can instead click on the magnifying glass icon to get to a dictionary search with a single click. This means that the Dictionary link in the submenu is redundant, and the ellipsis submenu could be replaced by two icons that link directly to book details and reading progress. Instead they require users to click twice to show the reading progress, and then another two times to hide the reading progress before selecting anything else from the menu. Is this not a terrible implementation in terms of usability? Might it be possible to correct this with a patch? Last edited by JeanPierre; 09-28-2019 at 02:20 AM. I thought I should mention that the cut-off problem on the Portrait/Landscape menu also happens on completely un-kobopatched devices. I noticed it by accident on both my H2O and ClaraHD (both devices had the ForceAllowLandscape=true in the .conf file). I'm not suggesting for a moment that you shouldn't try to fix it via kobopatch if you want to, just that kobopatch didn't create the problem.

This is just a "nice to have" but can we add a patch to libnickel to remove the exclusive hold on event0? Miniclock does it on first boot if need be but it requires an extra reboot after patch install (yes I know I'm lazy) from Miniclock: Code: sed -i -e 's@/dev/input/event0:keymap=keys/device.qmap:grab=1@/dev/input/event0:keymap=keys/device.qmap:grab=0@' "$libnickel" |

I tried the dropbox integration on my Forma and it works fine. But the font size is a bit too much. Wish to change this to a smaller font size and, if possible, to smaller directory icons to get more ebooks/directories on the page listing.
