Apply Metadata to actual book (eg. EPUB)

In my library, I have folders where a book can be in several formats, say .AZW3 and EPUB. Calibre also shows the formats in the library.

When I fetch and edit METADATA, the metadata seems to be external in the metadata.opf file, and it's also nicely applied to the actual *.AZW3 book. (As I can see the metadata in the ebook previewer). The EPUB however doesn't have the metadata embedded. How can I apply the metadata for a book for ALL formats, so that the metadata is also embedded in the book files? Ty |

?? AFAIK Calibre does not AUTOMATICALLY modify any books IN the library.

OTOH Metadata IS updated on copies delivered when using: Send to..., Copy To... You can force the Library copy to update: (you need to add to a toolbar. Preferences Toolbars) Embed Metadata tool Polish Modify EPUB The last can also do other adjustments WITHOUT doing a conversion |

@theducks, if the AZW3 is the output of a conversion it would have the current metadata from the database. @flexy123 - the metadata you see in the calibre book manager is from the library (sqlite) database - metadata.db. The metadata.opf files in the book folders are there to be used by the Restore database tool in the event that the database becomes corrupt or lost. The metadata.opf files are maintained via a low priority background write process. In the case of mass updates to large libraries rewriting the files can take a long time to complete. You can force completion (e.g before doing nightly backups) via the calibredb --backup_metadata command. BR |
