As to creating them in Windows, all you have to do is put a second dot somewhere else. Or use the command line, though https://www.ghacks.net/2019/02/25/wi...dot-character/. And I've used it in the past to have the file sort first. |

David didn't ask for or make the change, all he is doing is passing on the information from Kobo. If you want them to change it back, or make it an option, tell them: https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new Posting here does nothing. |

That's assuming all non-MR users are ordinary? And I know many Windows people who sort with the dot, especially because it is less intrusive than other characters. But, the trash oversight is a bit unfortunate. We also now have a solution that will work for the foreseeable future, so what's the big deal? At least half the thread has already been devoted to discussing this issue.

Please accept it. A Windows user can create these directories. And they would expect them to be used in exactly the same way as any other directory. As such, they would consider it a bug if books were not imported from them. |

You could try citing fmon but David’s already pointed out that’s well beyond the expected use of the device. I’m going to assume Kobo could also make the user accessible partition only for books and have nothing else saved there do anything. That’d be a fairly good way to stop addons and patches etc. but they didn’t. So go install the tweak Geek1011 made, which solves this issue, then take off the tinfoil hat. Looking at the Kobo specs, it says it reads jpg, gif. Won't this cause problems as the new firmware will scan for the . folders and find the screen saver images and add them to books?

@John F: Either the .kobo-images folder is ignored, or the fact that the thumbnails/covers have no file extension is enough to prevent nickel from indexing them.
In any case, that's one thing you don't have to worry about ![]() |

The firmware isn't scanning the .kobo* directories, so it won't see the screensaver or cover files.

Original Post: This is strange. On my H2O first edition (which I just updated), when I close an epub, then go back to it, it opens on the page I was on when I closed it. Am I misunderstanding? Last edited by celticchrys; 09-19-2019 at 03:48 PM. |

Just updated my H2O first edition to the new firmware, and I like it!
*Page flipping seems a little faster. *Looking up words seems a little faster. *I like the new browsing view with the line! It's pretty responsive, too! *ePub page only seems to be forgotten in some files? *Bookmarks seem to work just fine. *Books on SD card are picked up FAR more quickly. They show up in the book count very fast now, whereas before, as long as I've had this device, it was very flaky detecting books on the SD card and showing them. This functionality seems vastly improved so far. Worthy upgrade, overall. I just wish my H2O first edition would be given the built in Overdrive feature, but oh well. |

Sorry, but it is very easy to create .directory with Windows. Anyone who can create a directory can create a .directory.

I've experienced this since upgrading to 4.17 too, on a Clara HD. It seems to be sporadic though as it'll ignore last page read (or bookmarked page) on occasion but works fine, same epub book, a few pages later?!

How often does 4.17 forget where you left off when reading ePub? Should we be bookmarking the page we are on before we put the device to sleep?
