Check the kobopatcher thread. I think the relevant patch is in the libnickel.so.1.0.0.yaml file. The maximum shown is 240 to match with being able to fit the description string of "4 hours" into available space but you could replace 240 with 255 if desired.

On my Forma, the longest period is 60 minutes. What devices do you have that you have a period of 4 hours without any patches/tweaks/hacks?

Personally, I only power off my Kobo ereaders when I plan on storing them for months. For the most part, putting them to sleep allows me to start reading much faster and, in my testing with my usage patterns, I found no advantage to powering them off in terms of battery life. YMMV.

Doesn't a Kobo automitically shut itself off once the battery gets low? Is it bad for the battery to let the battery run low and have the Kobo shut itself off?

Only if you leave it like that for to long. The power off level this happens at will be above the point were the battery is damaged. If you don't charge it, then it will self-discharge further, and that could potentially damage the battery if left to long. But, for a battery in a reasonable state, that could be weeks.

I think you're thinking of your e-reader like a phone. Try setting auto poweroff to 'Never' for a few weeks or months. See what happens. You will see no practical difference in battery power between turning it off as you do now and leaving it asleep for that same amount of time.

Hi PeterT, Thanks for your reply. In the /.kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf file, I found the PowerOptions section you quoted. It was Code: [PowerOptions] AutoColorEnabled=false AutoOffMinutes=60 AutoSleepMinutes=5 BedTime=@Variant(\0\0\0\xf\x4\xb8\x7f\0) ColorSetting=6400 FrontLightLevel=0 FullscreenCoverInfoPanel=false FullscreenCoverStretch=true ShowBookCover=true I changed one line to make it Code: AutoOffMinutes=240 When I ejected the Forma and reviewed the EnergySavings Settings, The "Automatically Power off After' field was on "5 minutes". I guess this method does not work anymore. I guess it's time to try the "patching" method.

Not quite the Kobo but monitored battery drain on the Kindle PW4. Even with sync on and airplane mode off (wifi on), drain was just 8% after 4 weeks on sleep mode. Frankly, the boot process probably uses more power than being on standby/sleep would.
