The First Rumpole Omnibus by John Mortimer has dropped to £3.99 at Kindle UK. It doesn't even appear to be available at Kindle US. I've always had a bit of fondness for Rumpole, because my step-grandfather's name was Horace...

I'm late for something and don't have time to figure out exactly what's in this one, so go check out the blurb, or go look at the sample...

I read it a few years ago. I liked it, but didn't love it. But as usual with the Hard Case Crime books, I loved the cover.

The Elusive Mrs. Pollifax is the third in Dorothy Gilman's mostly cozy/slightly goofy/fun IMO Mrs. Pollifax series. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Most of the titles in the series address fairly "generic", if sometimes now rather dated, issues - e.g. the Cold War, theft of nuclear material, etc. A few of the titles in the series take a specific view of various world political situations of the time, and depending on your view of those situations, you may or may not enjoy those. This one is a fairly standard Cold War background.

As I've mentioned before, Catherine Aird's Inspector Sloan (and Constable Crosby) series is one of my top five favorite series - one of the very few series that I have to read while I'm alone since I'll laugh out loud without warning.

The Stately Home Murder (apa The Complete Steel) is the third in the series and has dropped to £0.90 at Kindle UK - one of the rare sizable Open Road price drops in the UK. The webpage also indicates this is a "Rue Morgue Classic British Myster[y]" - I don't know if this means Open Road has picked up the rights to use the US "Rue Morgue" publisher name, or has just created one of their own, but in any case, the book will be the same .

For those following the Rebus series, by Ian Rankin, here's a short story originally published in a magazine. For $0.99 I grabbed it, short though it may be. Book is titled "Meet and Greet". Says 24 pages. Edit: BUT this is not a Rebus book. Kinda random, imho. Not bad, but not a good guy wins police procedural.
