Yep.

And also the Amazon Visa is a great way to earn Amazon Gift cards. You'll get $30 off your first purchase, and then get a $25 gift card for every 2500 points you build (3 points for every dollar at Amazon--and some other places like dining if you sign up for a certain promotion, 1 point per dollar elsewhere).

I put everything on it and pay it off in full each month. I like the Amazon GCs as rewards as you can buy pretty much anything you want from there.

I just spent 80 bucks on Kindle books last night and pre-ordered a few more. One-click buying is evil! I already have a problem spending too much on iTunes on music and iPhone Apps.. I don't know what I'll do now that I have a Kindle too.

I would suggest getting a second job, but you are too busy reading and boogeying and apping. That'll be $25, leave it in the drop-box by the door. (See how much cheaper it is than visiting a professional? I don't have overhead, such as a laddy at the door.)

Yeah, and I'm married too (to a guy! ) so that would be pretty bad too!

The booze and the drugs and the dice, though ... that's pretty tempting ...

That's actually a pretty good idea (the gift card, not self control! ). But how exactly would you go about changing your "method of payment" for your Kindle account? It seems to be different from your regular Amazon account.

Or maybe I'm missing something. It's been known to happen.

I'm not sure. If you have a credit on your account I think that always gets billed first before your default credit card. But I've never tried to enter a GC without buying something--I've just sometimes had credit left over from using a GC and it automatically got applied to my next order.

Purchase an Amazon GC.

Go to 'your account' on Amazon.

Click on (under 'payment") "apply GC to your account"

enter the number on your GC and click 'okay"

Now, anything you buy, will be taken from the GC first.

What fun would that be. LOL

Seriously though. That may work.

:-) Yes, there's a little switch on the back that controls the cell phone chip. I find if I leave it off most of the time I spend much less money.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the info. I may do that. Though I do just like keeping the around to save a bunch up for a bigger purchase rather than using them for regular purchases. Was planning on doing that while waiting for a price drop on a Kindle until I decide to go the Craigslist route.

Yeah, I know all about that little switch. I just have to find the little switch in my brain that makes me keep turning it back on!

Sure ... but will it tell you when the Gift Card has been used up and your credit card is about to be dinged? That would be a handy little feature, don't you agree?

Amazon, are you listening?

of course, once your GC balance is gone, it starts charging your CC again.

I haven't been around much lately, stoogeswoman, so I've missed most of your posts. But I can tell you fit right in here

Anyway, returning to the actual topic, I spend almost all my reading time on PD freebies--which I've gotten here on MR. I've only bought two (!) books in the Kindle store in the 6 months that I've had my K1--"Angels and Demons" (pretty good) and "The Pearl". The latter shouldn't even really count, because I bought it for my daughter who has to read it for homework and couldn't find a copy at the library. Of course, once I let her borrow my K1 so she can do her homework, I might never get it back
