@Loba - Without a (SFW) story URL and a copy of your personal.ini, all I can tell you is that FFF thinks it's seen that line twice in your personal.ini. Perhaps you copy/pasted it?

minor RFE for user error feedback
I'll try and remember in the future that when FFF tells me it "Skipped" a URL, it probably means that the book already exists in my library. But my memory is awful and I don't use FFF that frequently.
I was trying to download a single story from Wattpad, and FFF kept saying it was being skipped and I couldn't figure out why. It turns out that it was in my library. But for whatever reason, the title wasn't showing up in an alphabetical listing of titles (8500 books). I found it eventually, but my head hurts from banging that wall ![]() My RFE is a modification to the user feedback info for that user error. "Skipped" doesn't really address why it might be skipping downloading the story. Can that info be changed to "Story Found in Library", or maybe a short list of common reasons for Skipping? As always, thank you for all the work you/y'all put into this!! |

Thank you for responding and explaining! Now that you've explained it, I do see the Comment in the log. I guess the Comment was unclear to me that the 20 chapters referred to a book in my library versus just stating that 20 chapters were found on the website. What about a tiny clarification like changing the comment to say something like "Book found and already contains %d chapters." or "Book in library already contains %d chapters."? I know it seems sort of obvious now that you've explained it, but from the pure user end it, it wasn't clear. All that caught my attention was that it Skipped the download and gave a chapter count PLUS I couldn't actually find the listing for the book for a while (don't know what that was about).
Like I said, it's kind of a minor usability RFE. Thanks again! Take care! Last edited by meghane_e; 08-18-2019 at 02:44 AM. |

@meghane_e:
FFF is translated (at least partially) into 11 other languages. Any changes to phrasing necessarily invalidates the existing translations for that string. Consequently, I tend to avoid changes for minor issues. |

New Test Version Posted
2019-08-19 - Add dedup_chapter_list option for buggy chapter lists. Optional in case they're not buggy. - Add fetch_last_page for base_xenforo--SB doesn't send notice emails if user not up-to-date now. Like it says, I've noticed that forums.spacebattles.com hasn't been sending me update notice emails when it doesn't think I've looked at the thread since the last notice. I've added code to address that, but it's off by default because you need user/pass in personal.ini: Code:
[forums.spacebattles.com] username:XXX password:XXX fetch_last_page:true |

AO3 tags issues
I hope I'm not violating protocol with this post; it's my first time posting.
AO3 (archiveofourown.org) allows authors to use "canonical" tags and non-canonical tags (https://archiveofourown.org/faq/tags...#whatcanonical). It can take a long time for tags to become canonical, so multiple tags might apply to the same idea but aren't linked in the system (Steve is an asshole, asshole-Steve). Additionally, authors like to use non-canonical tags to give extra information, such as using "kinda" as a tag after a canonical relationship tag, wherein "kinda" only makes sense in context with the canonical tag. I have over 1500 fanfic stories (all that I've read) in my Calibre and 8266 tags. I don't have a problem using user categories, but sifting through all those tags is a nightmare. I tried searching for "Scott" in the tag browser and wasn't even taken to a tag with Scott in it! I don't necessarily want to trim all the extraneous tags out because they can provide nuance to canonical tags. Also, if I did that I would be constantly trimming categories every time I add stories. Managing this would be a lot easier if I could search the tags for a specific word and get a list of all tags with the word that I could then choose to add to a user category (I can't believe this isn't a function in the manage user category or manage tag options). The only other idea I thought of was to somehow copy the tags into a "note" column to keep the info and then delete all the extraneous tags. Then again, I'd still have to keep trimming tags whenever stories are added (and I'm in the process of adding my unread stories, which may outnumber the read stories). So, I guess I'm asking if there is a FanFicFare utility for this issue and if not for it to be added to the list when considering updates, as well as asking if anyone has any recommendations for this problem. |

Also, I was wondering, has there been any thought put into something like a Browser Plugin for FFF? It would be much more convenient to have the browser use it's own cookies to deal with certain websites like Webnovel that have 2-factor and "are you human" questions. |

I keep AO3 tags in a #freeform_tags custom column. I have a LibreOffice spreadsheet where I assign canonical tags to freeform tags and then use Job Spy's Scrub Tags option to convert freeform to canonical so I can keep my main tags column clean. |
