Yes, i did yesterday. Hope they got it UPD: got respond that they forwarded information to R&D. Now we wait. I suspect that Boyue has 3,5 devs or don't have enough testers or analysts because they have so much work to do to polish their e-readers. Any ideas for feature/change requests? 1) I think, first of all, Boyue should split so called "Airbook OS" into 3 different apps so we can switch between Reader, Launcher and Notes. Right now it's not possible at all. I found out that ONYX does exactly so. Obvious thing to do 2) Quick backlight access can be implemented at least programmatically without using HW buttons. Boyue could add one more active zone (4 instead of 3) and assign it to backlight. Pros: easy to toggle Cons: somehow they'll have to put that feature also in Launcher and Notes Solution: make HW buttons to toggle backlight so user can call it from everywhere 3) Add option to save Notes on SD card so you don't have to backup stuff before doing factory reset. Or have i missed that? 4) Make margins autotrim as global option. Tired to switch that everytime i open new book Last edited by Bratken; 07-29-2019 at 12:28 PM. Reason: possible change requests |

Hello , sorry to bother you but I'm about to buy an ereader and I have some doubt. I looked a lot of review and the choice now is between the onyx boox nova pro and the boyue likebook mimas. Now I saw a review on internet that compare the mimas to the note pro (same software and specs of the nova only bigger) and the mimas was destroyed. This is the review : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggustE7skmY . I was inclined to buy the mimas but after I saw this I had my doubts. Were the bugs fixed with the release of the firmware 1.1? Another thing that I didn't like is that for the onyx boox they did all the in depth review for the firmware with the content bar on the left that let you see and manage bookmark, note and highlights. For the mimas there is only one or to hint on the content bar but no way to see that in action. I want to know if it works decently and how the note looks. Can anyone answer my dilemma :P ? thanks to anyone that will be so kind to respond |

The kindle app the first time you open it it takes several seconds to open(I don't know why, the rest opens almost immediately) but when it's opened it's just half second to show up. The onyx is a unbeatable device in note taking but I don't use that function that much so for reading PDFs and comics(that is my main use) the likebook is more than perfect. And for the management of notes, bookmarks and highlights in the mimas there is not a side bar like that only a option at the bottom. | |

Yes, I think the Onyx has a lot more note-taking (and saving) functionality. It depends what's important to you and if you don't mind the extra cost. When I ordered the Mimas, it still wasn't clear if/when Onyx would release a 10 inch note-taking ereader, and I didn't want to wait any longer. The Mimas was a lot cheaper and I have had good reliability with the other smaller Boyue device I bought several years ago. The screens are very nice on both of them, and have perfect frontlighting, which is not something I can say for the Kindle Paperwhites I tried. I occasionally feel a bit regretful that I didn't wait for the Onyx, only because the software is more polished... but then I remind myself of the things I do like about the Mimas, including the lower price and months of extra use I've gotten by not having to wait, and I don't feel so bad. Personally, I don't think I would sell my Mimas and buy the Onyx because I love having the hardware buttons. (The speakers too -- I'm not sure if the Onyx ended up including speakers.) I am probably an atypical user in that I use the Mimas to help alleviate my insomnia. Being able to use the device at bedtime (with the warm amber light) to make any notes about things that would otherwise keep me awake, read a bit until I'm sleepy, and then use the built-in speakers to listen to a meditation recording that is like audible-ambien... has been incredibly helpful for me. (As I'm dosing off, listening to a recording... it's easy to reach the hardware buttons that control the sound volume. I find that so helpful since I often have to adjust the sound... and I don't even have to open the cover to do that with the Mimas.) So, if you are just a casual at home user like me, you may find the software if good enough and enjoy using it. However, if you want to use it for school or work, or more complex, rigorous note-taking... you would probably be much happier with the more expensive Onyx. Has anybody found a way to create a single template that is applied to all pages of a note? As it is now: create a directory in the "templates" folder and put image files there (software seems to accept a lot of image formats and sizes). If I put one image there, it is only applied to the first page of the note. The rest of the pages remain blank. When I put two images there, they are applied to page one (first image) and page two (second image). The rest of the pages remain blank. |
