How responsive is Kobo developers to request for minor improvement ?

I noticed that Kobo Nickel font lack two combination of letter "y" with Vietnamese diacritics. This results in improper display of certain Vietnamese word.

I gave feedback through Customer Service. They was very nice & said that my feedback was recorded.

I wonder if their developers can quickly fix the issue ? How responsive is Kobo developers to minor request similar to mine?

I think it's just a minor problem, can be easily fixed. I really hope that they can fix it in the next fimware release.

I doubt you will see a fix like that. The system fonts have been around for a long time. And they are missing a lot of glyphs. I would be surprised if Kobo were to change these fonts at this point. I'd be even more surprised if they changed them to add glyphs for a language that they didn't otherwise support.

Have you tried the fonts "Kobo Tsukushi Minch" and "Kobo UD Kakugo". These are there to support Japanese but are much more complete and include support for other languages. I have no idea about Vietnamese. Otherwise, the device has good support for adding your own font. There is a sticky thread about fonts for Kobo devices that includes a link to how to do it.

It's also worth noting that if you sideload books as Kepub rather than Epub, (assuming here that you're sideloading,) the Kobo will fall back to another font if your chosen font has any missing glyphs,, this will even work with sideloaded fonts. (Keeping a copy of Microsoft Arial Unicode in your fonts folder will ensure you can display glyphs from just about any language.)

Thanks davidfor and rashkae so much for your great tips. I found some open-source fonts with completed Vietnamese glyphs. But I have to admit that Kobo Nickel is still much easier to my eyes than them.

Google Noto is perhaps a better choice nowadays. Free, already supports more of Unicode than Arial Unicode ever did, and aims to support all of it.
