Asking you to copy/paste a story URL is not, IMO, an unreasonable request when a user asks for support.

And an issue in the log is a lower priority than if it were in the ebook output. Especially when my test output doesn't have that problem.

I changed calibre´s language to german and tried it with the first story https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12888974

Ü is displayed correctly in my log (see enclosed) so it doesn´t seem do be a problem with a german language setting.

Not reading German, I assumed Tharos's first post was a book title and author, not the download status. It's on me for not looking closer Tharos's second post. I didn't realize that until ILB's post.

(It does stand as a warning, though--even if you don't think you need a story URL, I might not look at your problem in any detail without one.)

Something has fundamentally gone wrong, as even the FFF top level drop-down menu German strings aren't showing up correctly with the most recent test version of FFF.

The more recent released zip version (v3.9.0) doesn't have that problem.

But when I back up to the v3.9.0 tag in my dev env and try it, even with Calibre 3.44, I still get the same problem. Which suggests it is a problem in my system. I just don't know what. Latest windows 10 update is the only thing I can think of that changed...

ILB, what's your OS?

Or maybe it will. I just found it--I use calibre-debug.exe to call calibre.translations.msgfmt.main to convert .po files from Transifex to .mo files to include in the plugin zip. Like so:

calibre-debug.exe -c "from calibre.translations.msgfmt import main; main()" de.po

Using calibre v3.45.2 for that step has problems. Using calibre v3.44 does not.

I'm going to speculate that it's related to the issues that Cal v3.55.0 had with Windows. And I'm going to wildly speculate that it's all python3's fault.

Does anyone know if there's a Calibre thread about that already? I've also gotten a post over in EpubMerge I'm going to assume is related for now...

Hi, I've got something that I'm trying to do that I'm wondering if you could help me with.

Basically, I want to see if any stories I have downloaded have been deleted from the site hosting them. The way I've done this in the past was by forcing updates (or over-writes, I forgot which), and seeing which stories didn't have their date change. The way I did it, the only stories that kept the old downloaded date were the ones that were deleted from the site.

The problem with this is that I don't want to accidentally overwrite a story with an inferior updated version (something like a censored version to comply with site rules, which I have seen before.)

Basically, I need something that always updates the date if the story is will online, but won't overwrite any pre-existing chapters. Downloading any new chapters is okay. Of course, I'm open to alternative methods to check if stories are gone from the hosting websites too. I would think that the "update ebub always " function might do this, but my attempts to test it are unsuccessful.I'm getting this error:
"Couldn't find a tree builder with the features you requested: html5lib. Do you need to install a parser library?"The story I tried it with is:

Let's assume you download to epub. I recommend that, even if you convert to another format because of the update features.

If you attempt to update a story, even a 'if new chapters' update, FFF will tell you in the log if it failed to find the story on the site. You can use the error column feature to record it if you like.

When you update (not overwrite), FFF will keep previously downloaded chapters, only downloading new ones.

FFF expects Calibre to have made an html5lib available. Plus Calibre 3.21 is from Fri Apr 6 07:37:41 2018. I'd try installing the current Calibre version.

@JimmXinu back in December 2018, you posted a test version where the gif were enabled again (for Wattpad, that I know of), but now after the latest update not only gifs, but images in the top header at the beginning of each chapter are gone as well...

plus, do you think is there a chance to have the links for the videos in the top header from Wattpad? Thank you
