There's a few science fiction and fantasy books for 99p in the UK at the moment:

Childhood's End - Arthur C Clarke
amazon.co.uk | Kobo

Quote:
When the silent spacecraft arrived and took the light from the world, no one knew what to expect. But, although the Overlords kept themselves hidden from man, they had come to unite a warring world and to offer an end to poverty and crime. When they finally showed themselves it was a shock, but one that humankind could now cope with, and an era of peace, prosperity and endless leisure began.

But the children of this utopia dream strange dreams of distant suns and alien planets, and begin to evolve into something incomprehensible to their parents, and soon they will be ready to join the Overmind ... and, in a grand and thrilling metaphysical climax, leave the Earth behind.
Consider Phlebas (Culture #1) - Iain M Banks
amazon.co.uk | Kobo

Quote:
The war raged across the galaxy. Billions had died, billions more were doomed. Moons, planets, the very stars themselves, faced destruction, cold-blooded, brutal, and worse, random. The Idirans fought for their Faith; the Culture for its moral right to exist. Principles were at stake. There could be no surrender.

Within the cosmic conflict, an individual crusade. Deep within a fabled labyrinth on a barren world, a Planet of the Dead proscribed to mortals, lay a fugitive Mind. Both the Culture and the Idirans sought it. It was the fate of Horza, the Changer, and his motley crew of unpredictable mercenaries, human and machine, to actually find it - and with it their own destruction.
Brief Cases: The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
amazon.co.uk | Kobo

Quote:
Magic. It can get a guy killed.

Return to the world of the Dresden Files with Harry Dresden (the only wizard in the Chicago phone book) and friends as they solve supernatural mysteries, protect the helpless, and fight evil.

Brief Cases is a new collection of Dresden Files stories which will include an original novella, from international bestseller Jim Butcher.

Stories included in this collection: 'Curses', 'AAAA Wizardry', 'Even Hand', 'B is for Bigfoot', 'I was a Teenage Bigfoot', 'Bigfoot on Campus', 'Bombshells', 'Jury Duty', 'Cold Case', 'Day One', 'A Fistful of Warlocks', 'Zoo Day' (original novella taking place between Skin Game and Peace Talks)
Hyperion - Dan Simmons
amazon.co.uk | Kobo

Quote:
It is the 29th century and the universe of the Human Hegemony is under threat. Invasion by the warlike Ousters looms, and the mysterious schemes of the secessionist AI TechnoCore bring chaos ever closer.

On the eve of disaster, with the entire galaxy at war, seven pilgrims set fourth on a final voyage to the legendary Time Tombs on Hyperion, home to the Shrike, a lethal creature, part god and part killing machine, whose powers transcend the limits of time and space. The pilgrims have resolved to die before discovering anything less than the secrets of the universe itself.

Winner of the Hugo Award for best novel, 1990

China Mountain Zhang by Maureen F. McHugh is $2.99 on Amazon.com

Quote:
Winner of the James Tiptree, Jr. Memorial Award, the Lambda Literary Award, the Locus Award for Best First Novel, and a Hugo and Nebula Award nominee.

With this groundbreaking novel, Maureen F. McHugh established herself as one of the decade's best science fiction writers. In its pages, we enter a postrevolution America, moving from the hyperurbanized eastern seaboard to the Arctic bleakness of Baffin Island; from the new Imperial City to an agricultural commune on Mars. The overlapping lives of cyberkite fliers, lonely colonists, illicit neural-pressball players, and organic engineers blend into a powerful, taut story of a young man's journey of discovery. This is a macroscopic world of microscopic intensity, one of the most brilliant visions of modern SF.

The Black God's Drums by P. Djèlí Clark

Link: Amazon US $1.99

In an alternate New Orleans caught in the tangle of the American Civil War, the wall-scaling girl named Creeper yearns to escape the streets for the air--in particular, by earning a spot on-board the airship Midnight Robber. Creeper plans to earn Captain Ann-Marie’s trust with information she discovers about a Haitian scientist and a mysterious weapon he calls The Black God’s Drums.

But Creeper also has a secret herself: Oya, the African orisha of the wind and storms, speaks inside her head, and may have her own ulterior motivations.

Soon, Creeper, Oya, and the crew of the Midnight Robber are pulled into a perilous mission aimed to stop the Black God’s Drums from being unleashed and wiping out the entirety of New Orleans.

The Star Trek bargains for July in the UK have gone live at amazon.co.uk. 99p each as always.

First up there's all four novels from 2001's Section 31 series, plus the two novels featuring Dr Bashir that were released in 2014 and 2017 as follow-ups to the Fall series. As far as I'm aware, the original four aren't connected in any way other than they all feature Section 31.

Section 31: Rogue (Next Generation) by Michael A Martin and Andy Mangels
Section 31: Shadow (Voyager) by DW Smith
Section 31: Cloak (Original Series) by SD Perry
Section 31: Abyss (Deep Space Nine) by David Weddle

Section 31: Disavowed by David Mack
Section 31: Control by David Mack

And then there's a whole pile of Voyager novels by Kirsten Beyer, set after the return to the Alpha Quadrant. It's all the books published between 2009 and 2015, with the exception of Unworthy, which should be second in the sequence.

2009: Full Circle
2011: Children of the Storm
2012: The Eternal Tide
2013: Protectors
2014: Acts of Contrition
2015: Atonement

Amazon.com deals:

Binti: The Night Masquerade by Nnedi Okorafor - $1.99 - Link
This is the third novella in the Binti trilogy.

Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie - $2.99 - Link
Classic historical novel about the Indian independence with fantastical elements.

A Conspiracy of Truths by Alexandra Rowland - $1.99 - Link
Fantasy. A standalone sequel is about to be published.

Quote:
A wrongfully imprisoned storyteller spins stories from his jail cell that just might have the power to save him—and take down his jailers too.

Arrested on accusations of witchcraft and treason, Chant finds himself trapped in a cold, filthy jail cell in a foreign land. With only his advocate, the unhelpful and uninterested Consanza, he quickly finds himself cast as a bargaining chip in a brewing battle between the five rulers of this small, backwards, and petty nation.

Or, at least, that's how he would tell the story.

In truth, Chant has little idea of what is happening outside the walls of his cell, but he must quickly start to unravel the puzzle of his imprisonment before they execute him for his alleged crimes. But Chant is no witch—he is a member of a rare and obscure order of wandering storytellers. With no country to call his home, and no people to claim as his own, all Chant has is his wits and his apprentice, a lad more interested in wooing handsome shepherds than learning the ways of the world.

And yet, he has one great power: his stories in the ears of the rulers determined to prosecute him for betraying a nation he knows next to nothing about. The tales he tells will topple the Queens of Nuryevet and just maybe, save his life.
Deep Space 9 - The Fall Of Terok Nor: Millennium book 1 by Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens - $0.99 - Link
First part of a DS9 trilogy that I enjoyed. In later books has time-travel to the past and to a twisted future.
