Is this legal?

Curious as to the legality of 'a certain website' selling the Kindle Oasis 3 with all details and pictures copied directly from amazon. With the added bonus of it costing $20 or $40 MORE (depending on whether the device is with or without special offers, which is not specified). It’s not legal to do this, is it?

It’s an affiliate link. Extremely common on blogs. Amazon have an API which makes Amazon store content appear on your site. If someone buys the item, the affiliate gets paid commission.

No, it’s still there, but the posted link has an extra “http” at the beginning.

I am questioning the legality of copying all of amazon's photos, text AND charging more.

I doubt that they have copied it. They’re almost certainly using Amazon’s store API, as I noted in my previous post.

Actually, it looks like it's *not* an affiliate link. If you click through to the cart, You can see that you are actually paying them, not Amazon.

I've fixed the link. It's still good. All the images are hosted at goodereader.com, it's not just an affiliate link.

And it's not just Kindles. He's selling eReaders from Onxy, Boyue, Tolino, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Pocketbook, Inkbook and his own GoodEReader devices... (I think that's it). All prices above what you pay by going directly to the dealers, except maybe Pocketbook. Originally it was just Pocketbook, so I think there is some kind of affiliation with them.

Well let's just be grateful that Goodereader is ripping people off like this and not running a used car lot where they can rip people off for a lot more. Does anyone doubt that's what those guys would be doing if they didn't have ereaders going for them?

It occurs to me that they must be buying the Oasis from Amazon and reselling it so if that's true than the buyer won't be the original purchaser and won't have an Amazon receipt or record of the sale and that would probably call any warranty into question.

I don't think I'll buy one from them.

For the Onyx ereaders, they're misleading people into thinking that the devices are shipping from Vancouver when they are in fact shipping from Hong Kong. Thus, some Canadian customers are getting hit with unexpected taxes and fees.

Onyx has promised to look into the matter to ensure that customers are fully aware of where their devices are shipping from and that they might therefore incur additional costs. But then they unlisted the thread where the issue had been raised so that it is now only available via direct link so who knows what will happen.
