Hi, I'm Liz and I live in NY. I am a soon to be Kindle owner. In the past I have used my ebook reader on my PDA, which I enjoyed, but I am looking foward to something more dedicated.

Hi Liz and welcome to the Forum. Are you getting a Kindle 2?

You are going to find that eInk equipped dedicated eBook readers, like the Kindle, are much more satisfying than a PDA. I read for years on an iPaq and my Sony is way better than that was.

Okay, 'satisfying' isn't the correct word; the damn things are addictive!

Welcome to MR, Liz. I agree that PDAs aren't the best for reading but they do fit in pockets better than Kindles.

Word to that! I can fit pretty much anything in my purse (Mary Poppins style), what's a few more inches in size? My Reader is certainly lighter than my day planner...

Yeah, I don't carry a purse. I'm afraid the other guys would make fun of me and I'd have to hit them with it. Ruins so many purses that way, doncha know.

I upgraded myself from a palm life drive (which I used for 3 years for reading only) to a Sony PRS-505. I did not wanted a Kindle - didn't look that good in my opinion - and I am happy right now.
So, hope for you, that your kindle 2 arrives today and
keep reading
