How does (English or foreign) word lookup work on Onyx?
Howdy everyone,
Wow, after many sad years in the large-screen market, it looks to me like one of the Onyx products is going to be perfect to replace my old KDX (9.7"). One thing I liked on the Kindle was that depending on the language of the ebook, the device showed me definitions in different languages. 1. How do you look up a word on products in the Onyx Note line? Can you select the word with a finger? Then what do you do? 2. Is it possible to tell the device to use a specific English/English dictionary for books in English, a Spanish/Spanish dict for books in Spanish, and so on? Thanks in advance for any information on this.\! Trying to improve my foreign language skills by reading, so word lookup is important to me. |

I currently have nine dictionaries loaded onto the device. Depending on what language I am reading in, I will then change which of them I am using as my preferred dictionaries. Because you can also install apps on the Onyx devices, you can then install other dictionary apps and other reading apps which can allow you even greater versatility for looking up words. For example, I find Moon+ Reader is especially good for Japanese. It offers even more lookup options than the native NeoReader. |

Thank you, @Question Mark.
Sounds like it works beautifully, then! Do you find that good Stardict dictionaries are easy to find, or that you're easily able to convert dictionaries from other formats? (Such as mobi coming from the Kindle world?) |

Plenty of dictionaries in StarDict format available here: http://download.huzheng.org/
As for converting, I have no experience with that. I have, so far, been able to find enough dictionaries already converted. |
