to reemphasize my procedure. I pick up the tablet which is laying on it's back while "ON" and press the button and the screen flicks alive and shows a nice pretty ad with John Snow for the GOT Slots Casino Game (whatever that is) and the time and battery charge.

That's a keeper. I'm about 32 hours in. I turn on the screen to check the battery 3 or 4 times...then screen off.

Both my Amazon Fire HD 8 (year before last) and Walmart tablet are at 56%

My HD 8 is a year younger (about 7 or 8 months old), gets minimal use (doctor's offices, car dealer, waiting for wife to come out of the store, ""WAITING type situations"" and that could explain the difference in battery life.

All indicators point to a good product.

The Fire HD 8 also has a choice of 16 or 32 GB of memory.
Plus of course there is "the cloud" if you want.

I am well pleased.

My wife swears by her Fire 7 and gave up a nice Samsung 7 Plus.

Thank you. Went out and bought the Onn and 64gb memory card. I'm really impressed with it for an inexpensive tablet. Actually wanted it to take to hospital stay and rehab after open heart surgery. If it gets lost or stolen i'm not losing my Samsung or Asus tablets.
Everything seems to work great, have Andriod phone so probably not buy another Fire tablet. Only thing i don't like on the Onn is the stickey screen saver, I hope someone will soon have a glass one.

Is the "screen saver" just the film meant to be removed after opening the box?
