Just to report my experience with the latest 2.1.2 on Nova Pro.
Everything is very good so far after two days of use. The UI is overall snappier and quicker. I haven't noticed any problems or bugs. The hand writing recognition is very nice and works well except for one little bug/problem; the end of every line gets stuck the beginning of the next line of writing. I have to manually insert spaces to separate them after AI recognition. Waiting for a fix to this in the next update. PDF reading experience is also better due to various little enhancements in the reading application. All in all... well done. |

So new firmware was released for only one device, then firmware for Max2 Pro appeared because someone asked. Hey Onyx, what kind of game is this? Will we eventually see again a proper support for our devices?

Is the classic Note going to get the update? After all, it's not even a year old (one wouldn't believe at the rate that onyx is churning out device iterations).

I would assume so. It did eventually get it for the 2.1.1 firmware before it was pulled and I seem to remember Onyx having recently said that they will eventually roll it out to more of their recent models. So I don't doubt that it will come, but it may be a few weeks yet.

This! I;ve had the classic Note since April 2018, and it seems there are so many new devices, all seemingly slight variations of one another. Looking out for the AI recognition.

I have the Onyx Boox Nova pro. There are two bugs I want to make you aware, both about connectivity problems: #1: if I connect via bluetooth to an audio device I always hear a high frequency noise. I tried with two diferrents bluetooth audio receptors and with both of them it happens the same. #2: When I go into sleep mode with the wifi on, manytimes when I wake up the device I can't connect to any wifi and I have to reboot to be able to do it. My firmware is the 2.1.1 and I don't want to update it because don't want to lose all the notes I have on it, but anyways I didnt see any bugfixes about those problems on the changelog. Thanks |

The Poke has an update too. I'll install it at some point. I have been very happy with the previous update I installed, though apparently I luckily missed a bad update after that
![]() Onyx, it would be nice if you can list the changes in the updates so users could decide how important the update is to them. My main interest is if the long-press bug is fixed. I have no idea if it's been addressed. For all I know, you might have changed things in a way that I don't like. So a change history would be very nice. But thanks for the update and for supporting the devices. Great devices. Keep up the good work ![]() |

Onyx seems to have divided what they are putting their time and effort in:
1. Releasing firmware updates for some Boox models. 2. Finding lame and vague excuses not to give support and release updated firmware for other current models. |

I think it's safe to say that no model with older hardware (old non quad core) are going to be updated ever again. They moved to the same hardware on the new lineup, so they can release the same firmwares for all at once or very close. I would consider the support for any other product dead.

Especially some models sold in the USA and Europe. They are inner-hardware identical to pretty much all other current models, but Onyx is trying to avoid the responsibility for releasing firmware updates and giving support on them by making some vague statements about models coming from 'different distributors'. And these are models that are currently on official Onyx websites. So you may want to be very careful buying an Onyx ereader if you automatically expect it to get firmware updates with bug-fixes and improvements. |

I recommend to anyone to move away from Onyx. I have the Nova pro because I need a powerfull eReader, and this is the 8" most powerfull, but regarding to a bigger screens I am going to receive the new 13" Dasung monitor. Just hoping Boyue do their work better than Onyx and if they improve their software maybe I will never have another Onyx in years |

Most complaints there are about the note taking software, which may be why I have no particular problem with my Likebook Mars (although I also don't use the Boyue software for reading). I understand your frustration re Android 4.4, them not going through with that is a bummer. I hope the current line up will hold up a bit better (although Marshmallow isn't the freshest anymore either...) |
