Renaming non English book title when exporting to device
Hi all,
I hope I'm not sounding stupid here, but I looked and couldn't find what I need. When I export a book of non English title characters (Arabic in this case), Calibre would automatically transform them to English characters at the device (Boox Nova pro, BTW). In the save to disk feature settings I found a tick to disable this behaviour when, apparently, saving to disk, but I cannot find a similar settings for send to device feature. Is there an option to change this for "send to device"? I have to manually drop the ebooks inside the device from the file manager of Windows so that the book name appears correctly (in Arabic characters). Thank you. |

No there isn't. Many devices have probems with non-ascii filenames. In any case when you send a book to the device, the books title and ther metadata are set inside the bok file. The device should be reading those, not the filename.

Oh... I do realize that the file name itself could be different from what is displayed. Probably I should've worded my post differently. Anyway, it is what the device shows as title that is being converted by Calibre.
I think it should have an option under "send to device" similar to "save to disk" settings, where we can opt to keep the original non-ascii character naming. Many devices, especially modern ones, can read those titles correctly, so there is no need to convert them. |

Edit: I checked the Onxy Boox Poke Pro manual online and found this page (see attached image) where it looks as if the Show books' titles instead of their names in the library should do what you want. Last edited by DNSB; 06-10-2019 at 12:16 PM. |

Thank you very much David. That option fixed the problem on the Nova Pro.
