In this young adult debut set in Saudi Arabia, where the law forbids romantic relationships outside of marriage, two teens fall in love, with tragic consequences. "You don't want to get involved with a girl like that," they say. So how is it that Porus, a Parsi boy, has only ever had eyes for her? And how did Zarin and Porus end up dead in a car together, crashed on the side of the highway in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia? When the religious police arrive, everything everyone thought they knew about Zarin is called into question.

Thanks. I'll keep my eyes pealed for a post. I've never noticed a post about them before, but then again, I had never missed getting a daily deal audiobook that I wanted. So, the post wouldn't have stood out to me.

I have been meaning to scour the O.P. often, too, because t.m. has a lot of good stuff there that doesn't seem to have come from MobileReaders' posts--he's found the deals on his own.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it necessary to use a proprietary Kobo app to listen to their audiobooks? I've run out of space again on my cellphone, and actually spent quite a few minutes this morning trying to find ways to squeeze out a GB or two in order to install a different app than that one. I misplaced a card (micro SD?) that I bought, or I would have installed it already. Although they're relatively cheap now, so am I , and I don't want to buy another one, if I can help it.

Do you (or anyone else) know whether or not the Kobo audiobooks are stored on a Kobo cloud, or if they are stored on the cellphone? I wouldn't think that any audiobooks, other than perhaps those that are open, would be stored on the cellphone, but I just don't know.

I usually see it from an email, here or a banner on their page. I’ll post a reminder when it comes up. Usually once a year and should be coming soon if my memory has it correct.

The kobo.com help site says the files are MP3 or MP4 (I suspect depending on whether you use the Android or the iOS app).

If so, I don't understand why the app is required.

I haven't gotten beyond that in my research, because if I can't back it up to use where I like, I'm not buying audiobooks from them.

I don't know if this is still true, because it's been a while, but using an old version of the app (I had version 8.2.1.22424), the download was non-DRM mp3 files. I believe the files downloaded without a file extension, but all I had to do was add .mp3 and they opened just fine when transferred to my mp3 player.

When I tried using a newer version of the app, the downloaded files were DRMed and could only be played in the app.

You can probably find the older version by Googling, and then try downloading a free or sample book from Kobo to see if it still works.
