Prior to the update, I found a version that ran on the Mars except that when I pressed on a word to get its definition, it would crash. Using this version to sign in, I then updated to the latest version at the time, and it complained that it couldn't connect my credit card to my profile. Of course, I didn't have this problem on my Kindle Fire or my iPad.

In case it has your email and password stored from before, I would recommend uninstalling it and reinstalling it, then signing in again.

For the people with nook issues try clearing the cache of the app and if that doesn't work the data of the app as well from its os settings menu.

Edit: looks like they are aware of an issue in general. But that was months ago.

Tried that, no help. And yes, they have been aware of the issue since the beginning of this model they just don’t seem to be able to fix it.

My battery is getting drain even with the ereader turned off. Any ideas?

Off as in power on screen or off as in asleep? Do you leave wifi or bluetooth on and in the recent apps menu does it have apps just sitting in there?

Got the update, everything seems fine though wish they had kept the black top bar. The white just blends into everything else Imo. That's a personal preference though.
Also the nook app appears to not load due to wanting to load a video the device does not have a codec for and when it fails they never wrote in a what if for the app I guess. Edit: it works after the update, the play store is a newer version and it downloaded a different version of the app and I skipped the credit card durring creation to see what would happen (I don't use nook) but had the video issue before the update.

They edited it in the os ui on the update it's stuck that way unless they put it back or make an option. If we had root it would be easy.

Try holding it down for about 10 seconds. These days the power button has multiple uses on many devices. It is likely just turning the screen off.

OK, Nook again.
Uninstalled Nook app and rebooted the device.
Got newest Nook app in the Play Store. It ran fine up to signing in, viewing library and downloading a book. However, reading a book wouldn’t work. Select book and it changes to a black screen and eventually reports the app not responding. So it is almost working.

So I uninstalled that and rebooted device. This time I installed version 3.5.3.5 and it now works fine though it is not as full featured as the newest version. After the OS update the other day this version wouldn’t see my library, now it shows it and all is as good as this version gets.

Still rather unsatisfactory IMO, but livable with.

Might not be worth messing with it again but you would need to clear its data, then uninstall it, then go into your internal sdcard and in android/data remove the folder associated to really make it gone then you can get the fresh one. But from what I could tell loading the stock elephant book it was dog slow anyways with that new version.

Yeah, I’m probably done with trying to make the latest version of Nook work. With this older one I can access my books and read them which is the bottom line anyway. In the grand scheme of things it is just a relatively minor irritant.

But for those new to the Mars and maybe not so technically astute, it could be a bigger issue.

That's the version that was previously working except that it would crash when I tried to look up words in the dictionary. Do you have that problem with it?

I don’t actually know as I never do that, don’t even have a dictionary on the Mars that I’m aware of.

Edit: So I loaded a dictionary and sure enough, select a word it crashes back to the library screen.
