I occasionally have this fantasy where I scan all the cookery books, organise a database for the recipes, then just keep an old laptop in a corner of the kitchen for reading them.
This is not likely to happen, because life is too short. |

There was once this house building program on tv here. And they were showing the kitchen. With a computer built in (including screen) for the recipes...

There is also the MiBook which has video recipes on it. So, there you go..l you don't need to do any scanning of any cookbooks. You can have what you want for the price of a Kitchen PC. Since this software isn't very CPU intensive and old cheap PC will work just fine. BOb |

There is a fridge with a screen on its door and a scanner that monitors what and when you put in produce. Press on a button and a list of recipes come to the screen of what you can prepare with the contents. If a produce is about to go stale, it can tell you.

I hope it doesn't happen for our library. The shelves look sturdy, but we should rearrange things a bit so the books don't overflow too much. Quote:
We'll merge the library and guest room. |

I saw the perfect scanner today for this job...
http://www.i2s-digibook.com They had some old books on the scanners today... And they looked good! (I only think you need a big purse...) |

Do make sure your shelves are well supported, and attach the bookshelves to the walls as well. This way you don't have to worry about them, and all your books, falling on you if the ground gets shaky or if the hypothetical kid decides to climb them.[/QUOTE]

We are going to move some of the shelves soon, so we'll check them thoroughly at the same occasion. |

The Decameron is medieval, about 11th century more or less, not 1800's. Boring as you can ever imagine. Canterbury Tales is a much more interesting read, a bit younger than Decameron, but along the same lines with the travelers telling tales, but more lively.

When I was saying 18xx, I meant the actual date the book was produced, not the date the story was written.
