I'm too scared to do that. But I do run the vacuum cleaner hose over the keyboard quite often.

Electronics gear is unusually hardy UNTIL you turn it on while it's wet. So if you dump your kindle, ipod or phone in water, let the water drip out, then put it in a bowl of rice for 2 days so the moisture is really absorbed.

Not sure if you folks know this or not.

But, every cellphone has a little moisture detector on it. It is usually under the battery. It will turn color if it gets wet. I think it starts white and will yellow or something when it gets wet. Also, some phone refuse to work if the moisture indicator has been "tripped". Some batteries have them too.

The indicator can not be tripped if you expect warranty service/repair on it. However, I have heard of reports of them being tripped just when the phone has been in the rain or something.

Anyway, i-mate Pocket PCs don't like being in your pocket when you tackle someone into the surf. They don't work again, and the battery eventually swells up, bringing fears of it going all splodey.
