Emailing markedup pdfs
Thanks Malcolm. I have Gmail installed and can email the "_Teil.pdfs" (using Solid File Manager - a bit cumbersome, since Gmail does not see the "Notes" folder where they are stored) But they are not standard. Many people cannot open them and get messages that they are corrupt. Not suitable for a business environment. Acrobat reader's Android app can open them, but when I try to export from Acrobat it asks me to "update" the program, even though I have already updated. Xodo pdf reader cannot open the -teil.pdfs, it says they have no pages. Foxit reader did not work. I have spent many hours trying to accomplish what I can do on a PC in 10 seconds.
I do not think it is too much to ask that the "Boyue OS" create PDFs that anyone can read and have a mechanism to email them. Is this not one of the reasons people will purchase this device? Has anybody actually installed and used a program that can convert these "_Teil.pdfs" to standard PDFs that can be emailed? Many Thanks! Last edited by geordie2019; 04-29-2019 at 02:18 PM. |

I will try reinstalling Acrobat. I installed the one included on the device, then upgraded as requested, then it still wanted to upgrade before exporting, and then froze and then I uninstalled

I am trying to decide whether to buy the Likebook Mimas or the Boox Note Pro. The Mimas is over £100 cheaper so I am wondering if the Note Pro is worth the extra money?
1) I want to write on PDF's and save these files to a Windows PC. Does the Mimas software do this as efficiently as the Boox software? I read that there were some bugs with the Mimas software when writing on PDFs. Have they been solved yet? 2) Is the Mimas screen less robust than the Note Pro glass screen? I'm worried about how easy it is to damage or scratch the Mimas screen compared to the Note Pro. 3) I own the Boox Max 2 and the Likebook Mars. TBH I think both are pretty good as ereaders, browsers and when using Google apps which is why I'm uncertain about paying an extra £100+ for the Note Pro. Annotating PDFs on Max 2 is great. Just hoping Mimas is as good. Last edited by Spectralis; 04-29-2019 at 04:51 PM. Reason: Update |

I'm also really concerned about not being able to open 'Teil' files on my win 10 PC. Why has Boyue created this weird export file for their PDF reader? I have no such problems opening PDFs exported form the Likebook Notes app on my PC. One export file format should rule them all! Madness!
Does anyone have a solution to opening these files without installing Acrobat? |

I installed the latest version of Acrobat from the Play store but even that said it was corrupted. I can't even get the Likebook PDF reader to open it. I hope you can work your magic. |

Yeah says it's corrupted, is that the teil file or a modified one?

It's a Teil file. I've experimented further and discovered that the only way to export an edited PDF from the Likebook PDF reader is by using the "Whole Book" setting. The Likebook PDF reader's default export setting is, "All Notes" which creates the 'Teil' file. Exporting "Current Page" also creates a corrupt file.
The problem with exporting "Whole Book" is that the Mimas creates a new PDF with exactly the same file name in a sub folder. This means that each exported file has to be renamed manually otherwise Mimas will open the original PDF and not the exported one. It also means that we can't export edited single pages of a large document. Boyue has royally stuffed up the export function of its PDF reader and needs to sort it out immediately. |

So the Teil file is just "name teil.Pdf"?

When exporting from the PDF Reader using the default "All Notes" setting Mimas creates a file with the word 'Teil' attached to the name. I presume that's to distinguish it from the original PDF name. Eg: a file named, "Meeting.PDF" becomes, "Meeting-Teil.PDF" after export.
The Boox Max 2 also renames PDFs when exporting them after editing. So I don't think that the word "Teil" has much significance as far as corrupting the file because even when renamed, the Teil file is still corrupt. No app I've tested can open them - not even the stock PDF reader. The Mimas PDF Reader can export successfully using the "Whole Book" setting but it does not rename the PDF then. It just exports the edited PDF using the original name to a sub folder. Perhaps the Mimas PDF Reader is using two different formats to export edited PDFs depending on the setting? When it renames the file using the "All Notes" setting that's when the file becomes corrupted. The renaming process might be at the root of the problem. Other issues: 1) The Mimas stock browser crashes all the time. Google Chrome, on the other hand, is very stable. 2) The Mimas screen is slightly grayer than on my Mars and Max 2. The protective film included with the Mimas might be the culprit. I'm looking for alternatives. Or it might be due to the larger screen and lower resolution but then the Max 2 doesn't suffer from this problem. The front light helps brighten the screen so it's not a deal breaker. The Mimas is very good in many respects but the stock apps need to be overhauled urgently. I've not tried the Boox Note Pro but based on using the Max 2 and the Mimas I should've saved up the extra cash and bought the Note Pro instead of the Mimas. A case of buy cheap(ish), buy twice perhaps? Last edited by Spectralis; 05-05-2019 at 02:57 PM. |

From what I could gather teil is German for part and I wonder if it means part of the pdf as in the shapes ect. But then is the app originally German? A lot of boyues stock apps seem to use code form other open source apps around, perhaps illegally as they don't then release their source too? Does an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...projectpapyrus see the pen?

I've installed new fonts in Mimas by creating a folder named, "fonts" in Internal storage. They now work in the default reader and note apps. In case anyone uses AndrOpen Office if you want to install new fonts go to AndrOpen Office settings, check "Custom Font" and then click "Font Directory" and type in this path: /storage/emulated/0/fonts Add any new fonts to the "fonts" folder in Mimas Internal storage and they will then show up in future.
