Forma 8 vs 32 GB (difference besides storage)?

Hi! I have a friend visiting from Canada in a few weeks and I thought about buying a Forma (not available in my country).

My question is in regards to differences OTHER than storage (I am only interested in reading standard epubs no pdf/manga so 8 GB is enough).

Is the 32 GB version a newer hardware revision? Does it have noticeably different lighting? (The edge lighting problem seems to have a workaround but what about the PWM?)
For that matter, has anyone noticed or knows of any difference in more recently purchased devices (like early-mid 2019 vs late 2018)?

I look forward to any information you can provide.

To the best of our knowledge, the only difference between the 8GB and 32GB devices are the amount of storage. And I haven't heard of any changes in the hardware since the devices were released.

And, what about PWM? Do you think you will actually be able to detect it except with camera trickery?

Thanks for the response.

As for the PWM even if it is not consciously perceived it still registers at the level of the retina and the brain causing fatigue and eye strain in a not insignificant percentage of people. This seems to me the biggest flaw in the Forma as the whole point of ereaders is to do away with the eyestrain problems caused by lcd and oled and Kobo just introduced a problem that to my knowledge never existed on frontlit ereaders (witch is most likely a cost cutting measure since digital brightness control is cheaper than analog).

Except that you don't take the frequency used into account. Kobo is using 1KHz. If you can find any suggestion anywhere (beyond forum discussions) that PWM around this frequency can be a problem, please point them out. The highest frequency that I have seen any suggestions of issues is 400Hz. And even that seemed to be picking a number double where effects had been noticed.

This is valuable information I did not know the PWM frequency for the Forma was known (never saw any mention of the actual value, guess someone measured it?) so naturally I expected the worst.

It's mean measured and discussed several times in the forum. And I did the unthinkable thing of going to the source and asked Kobo. They informed me that it was 1KHz.
