A very strange problem
Hi, my dear friends, I need your help. A curious and weird problem took place in my Kobo Aura One. I bought it two year ago and it has been working very fine for me. Yesterday I got an E-Book and loaded it to my device. To be honest, the E-Book was not bought but downloaded from a suspicious website, its layout of the book itself is also poorly set. In one word, this E-Book is not a “clean” one like those we get from Kobo shop or from our Mobileread library. After the book has taken a place in my device, the strange thing happened. The Battery drops quickly in an obviously abnormal rate. After charging the battery full again, in one hour, it drops to 80% in sleep mode, totally without working. I have not yet removed this suspicious book from my device for I am not sure whether it is responsible for what happened to my Kobo reader. So I need to ask whether anyone of you have experienced something similar?

Yes, it is possible for very badly formatted books to cause high power usage. The worse the code in a book, the more CPU is needed to process it when reading and that will use more battery.

Occasionally when I turn webpages into epubs I get a bad book like that. Typically some careful editing will help... Like use the modify epub plugin to remove all javascript for a start.
Sometimes I have to do other things that involve essentially simplifying the html and stripping out useless garbage. |

FWIW, Calibre will automatically fix poorly-formatted ebooks. There's almost certainly nothing "malicious" in your download, btw.
