It's 1 dollar at fictionwise and BOB as well. I however am not allowed to buy this book because I live in Europe
![]() ![]() I was really, really interested in this book. Sounded like just my cup of tea... This ebook buying thing is becoming really frustrating. Beginning to wonder if it's worth it to shell out for a brand new reader at just yet. There just isn't enough content for sale for me here in The Netherlands. Sorry about the rant... |

If you have got some micropay money on your fictionwise account then all you need to do is to change your country temporally to US, buy & download the book and correct your account data again.
I did this with Pleasure Unbound, this time I used Lit format instead of eReader that I used last time and the results after stripping DRM and converting to ePub are much much better than eReader which ends up with a HTML file that is really horrible to read and convert to ePub. Good luck. ![]() PS: I did this for sports reason only, you know all other people on the board had the fun striping DRM and stuff so I wanted it too. ![]() And yes Hachette sucks. ![]() |

![]() I got tired of format converting about a month after buying my reader(which was 8 months ago) and now just stick to buying epub, lrx and pdf(if I have to) and only format convert freebies when neccessary. |

I haven't seen any epub books for sale yet. What site has them? Quote:
Do they suck more though than the other publishers that insist on DRM? |

glad I could be of some help. I’m myself Mac OS X user for 5 years now and it was really painful to set up a Virtual Machine and install Windows 7 there because Sony’s inability to provide their software for more platforms than Windows, arrrrrgh.
For epubs check out the both stores: http://www.booksonboard.com/ and http://www.diesel-ebooks.com/ Hachette sucks ‘bigtime’ because they’ve forbidden to sell their promotions books outside USA. I mean, as if there were zillions of readers just waiting for them. And they did it after the first book “The Way of Shadows” was sold by all the stores and suddenly they recognised that hey, the Internet does not stop at US border. How utterly astonishing! ![]() ![]() cu ![]() |

To be fair, they probably don't have the rights for selling the book outside of the US. Publishing hasn't caught up to the internet age and global economy - contracts for authors are negotiated one country at a time, often. So different publishers (or branches of a single publisher) sell the book in each place. Works ok (especially for publishers, who have legal monopolies and price protections in many countries) for print; not so well for ebooks.

Well yeah, I’m just a stupid customer (who btw preferred Oribit (= Hachette) books to other publishers because of printing/paper quality), do I really have to know about law in order to buy a book?
And this whole thing is/was about promoting ebooks. So what kind of message do you send to the customers when they try to buy a book and are told that: well sorry but you are of wrong nationality? Bear in mind that not all of the customers are coming from the Orbit One dollar website, some will just see an advert of the shop they use. And :gasp: the shops are happy to have customers from all over the world, they even calculate the prices for them. ![]() And how come that Random House can give away books for free and they have no region issues? Anyway, the next book in April “Winterbirth” I’ve read already and was just tedious, like history class lecture, so maybe I use my left micromoney for Jennifer Rardin book in May but after that I’m done with Orbit (Hachette). So well done, Hachette. ![]() |
