Occasionally, all three of these vendors are guilty of late or non-existent postings, coupled with or without the correct pricing. I use TBA to indicate missing data.

What's really crazy is Downpour's weekly rentals. Frequently, they post late, very late, or not at all. Sometimes the weekly rental lasts several weeks or drops off for several days and then reappears like the current one. It's hard to keep up with them.

  When does my rental period begin?
  
  Your rental timer will begin counting down when you first initiate the download on your device or 10 days after purchase, whichever comes first.

  How long can I listen to a title?
  
  All digital rentals provide a minimum of 30 days to listen to a book from the time you initiate your first download. With some of our longer books, such as Atlas Shrugged (63hrs), we extend the listening period to 60 days. You do have the option of purchasing a 5, 10, or 20 day extension after you have made your rental purchase.

  How many times can I listen to my rental?
  
  You may listen to a rental as many times as you would like until it expires.

  Can I extend my rental time period?
  
  Once you are logged into your Downpour.com account, you can purchase a time extension for any of your previous rentals via THIS link. After clicking “Extend Rental,” you have the option of purchasing a 5-day ($1.95), 10-day ($2.95) or 20-day ($4.95) extension. If your rental has not yet expired, the purchased time will be added onto your rental. (Example: if your rental has one day remaining, and you purchase a five-day extension, you will now have six days total before your rental expires.) If your rental has already expired, the extension will allow you to listen to your book again for the amount of time purchased.

  Can I have the same rental on more than one device?
  
  You may listen to your audiobook rental on as many personal devices as you own. Your rental time will be synced across all devices on which you have installed the Downpour app.

I'll make it a point to help out on the Amazon Daily Specials. I'm a real member (Silver Plan) again now. My time zone here is four hours' ahead of Seattle's, so maybe that will help (however, I usually don''t wake up until about noon (it's a Circadian Rythym(sp?) problem, I think) each day, too. However, if Audible doesn't post the special, as they (apparently) didn't yesterday, then nothing's going to be of help.

I missed the memo about the way that you'd be using "TBA." I'll know what you mean, from now on.

You really should deal with these feelings of rejection that you're having. There is help out there for people . . . ur . . . monkeys in such situations.

The problem is, how do you find pre-order ebooks? I've hunted, and haven't found a list of them.

There is this dedicated webpage at Amazon for popular pre-orders. It has no content, however.

There is this Amazon webpage which purports to give 32,000,000 (give or take a few hundred thousand?) pages on Amazon which have the term "pre-order" somewhere on the webpage.

Amazon tells us that we can do such-and-such in order to pre-order a title when we run across a pre-order title. That's not much help (that's an understatement).

I get the distinct impression that Amazon did not give much thought to this promotion before announcing it.

• From the Audible Homepage, select "Advanced Search" under the search box at the top right.
• Then select "Coming Soon" from the New Releases section (which is 3rd down)
• Select "Submit" at the very bottom

This will take you to a raw list of all the available preorders. You can also select additional criteria on the "Advanced Search" page itself or can select them from the filters on the left to get a more specific list.

For those who are interested, here is the bookmark I use. (It is sorted by Newest Arrivals, and filtered by English & Unabridged, plus set to show 50 per page. Note: Audible doesn't let you sort by Oldest first, so I go the last page to look for the ones that will be coming out soonest; the Newest are actually the farthest away. I also further filter it by my favorite genres (one at a time).
