You're welcome to try the beta version with that fix if you like, but it wasn't really performance related. More of an annoyance fix, really. But there have been some other changes since 0.9.13 that may impact things. I'm beginning to suspect, however, that the newer versions of Qt/QtWebKit/Python are simply going to need more than 4Gb of ram for Sigil to function _admirably_. I'll PM you a link.

In reading thru the Sigil user guide last night before minimizing Sigil and closing the lid on my laptop I saw in the Styles section that different (normal, bold, italic) .TTF files used the same Family Name.

I had always given them different family names.

That was why my italic tags were not working..

Yes I know just enough to get myself into trouble sometimes!

I did a clean install, first zipping my INI files and moving the zip file. I also shut down my laptop and started it after uninstalling and deleating the Sigil ebook folder.

I closed the lid on the testing version. major delays until it synced up (very much expected) but no tracking smoothly with no delays.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean by "no tracking smoothly." The only visual change you can reasonably expect with the beta is that the Preview window will no longer jump to the top of the page and then back down to the new cursor position every time you click in Code View (same tab).

My guess for "no tracking smoothly" would correspond to what I see. When Sigil starts bogging down, usually at the 1GB of memory usage point, then mouse tracking becomes very hit-or-miss. It will almost never register a double-click and when I release the mouse button after dragging a selection sigil is a second or two behind in registering the mouse-up...that causes the selection to change if I have moved the mouse. At that point, I save, and restart Sigil. Memory usage goes back to about 150Kb and all is well for a while.

Oh - sorry I haven't been tracking as closely on the troubleshooting as I should - please disregard if it has already been solved. I have found that the memory problems correspond directly to the preview window being open. If I have the PV window closed there are no issues at all - when I open PV then I can fairly rapidly get up over 1GB...sometimes 3GB if I ignore the warning signs.

To disable CFG just for Sigil.

Sorry for the confusion,

It is the cursor, tracking smoothly when either arrowing or paging up and down in Code View.

Also have not closed out of Sigil since installing it and the Preview window is still tracking to where it is in Code View.

I am finding that this is much more link 9.10 than the previous 9.11-9.13 releases.

Good to know! Keep in mind that Qt5.12.2 probably comes with it's own quirks that we may need to patch before an official release.

Do you know when Qt5.12.2 will be coming out? And will a new Sigil release be coming out shortly there after?

5.12.2 is already out. That's what the beta is using. But we want to test it for a while in case there's issues we need to work around and/or patch.

Well so far so good, I even have embedded fonts and all is working fine so far.

I'm fully updated on 1809. I tried disabling the CFG but it was still getting up to 1.4Gb before I finished my edits. It did seem like the memory usage wasn't affecting Sigil as much though... I didn't notice as drastic a slowdown???
