I messed with it for a few days to figure out its software limitations. Tried 3 or 4 different reading apps. Then remembered how good the software on my PB360 was a long time ago. I installed the Pocketbook reader. Its file structure for management isn't any better. As in listing by genre then author and then book title etc. But with the help of Calibre it's doable.

I use this template.{tags:re([\.],/!)|!|}/{authors[0]}/{authors}/{series}/{series_index:0>5.2f| |-}{title}

Then when you go into the Mars filemanager app and click External (using an SD card) you click Books and all your books are in their own folders. Genre/FirstLetterofAuthorsName/
AuthorName/SeriesName/NumberinSeries&BookName

Pocketbook is a great reader once you figure out the settings. As long as you setup Calibre right. The books interact with the Recently read and Recently Added. Loving the Mars now that I have this setup properly.

Now I just have to figure out how to install a dictionary.
Hello. I am interested in what you describe above for my Likebook Mimas, but I don't understand what you meant in the part of your post that I bolded - about the template. Could you explain what that all means and how it is applied?

I did requested and seller finally payed it. (At least most of it -a few dollars lost by PayPal transfer - but don't mind.)

I suggest order the second one from Gearbest - as I did. the reason why I suggest because Gearbest using PayPal as a payment method- which is much much safer for buyers . And the customer service is more friendly than AliExpress.
for example Send back costs are covered by PayPal.

Order with "EU express" and You got wait ~ 10 days with guaranteed no custom cost.

I sent it cheap from Germany as a letter by registered mail. Not as a package. After I sent the shipment ID to the seller, I got a new one from Spain.
Good service, I am satisfied.
This would all be valid if my country belongs to the European Union, which unfortunately is not the case (Serbia). And although my country geographical belongs to Europ, because Spain stock has strict rule EU only my ereader was shiped from China in frist place.

Its a template that is used in calibre. When you plug your device into your computer with Calibre. The Calibre software will ask if it should manage your ereader. You tell it yes. Then you can click the ereader on the top toolbar. When opens halfway down the screen youll see a (empty box) section that says Template. Place that code in the Template box.

After that when you add a book via Calibre it will automatically add your books to the device with that template.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. The post was about a new Likebook Mars, which is pretty misleading in the context of this thread if the link actually just refers to the same device everyone has been taking about for a couple hundred posts.

Does Calibre ask you also where (Mars' local memory / Mars' SDCard) will the ebooks be stored or that is otherwise configured?

Awaiting your kind reply,

Hi Guns4Hire - by interact, do you mean it also updates which ones you're opened in the Recently read section? I've just got a Mimas and have been trying to use Moon Reader as an external reader app. By long pressing on the book to change the open preferences, I can get it to open the files ok from the Recently read / Recently Added sections, but nothing changes in the Recently read section unless I open with the Boyue reader.

I too have the Mimas and have to do the same thing to get a new book I'm reading listed in the Recently Read. (I use the Alreader app rather than Moon Reader.) I hope they fix this. Or if there's a setting I'm missing, I'd love to know about it.

Actually, I'd really wish Boyue would just fix the text rendering issues in the built in app - then it would be a mostly perfect device for me.

Hi everyone.

I've been considering buying a tablet with an E ink screen because I'm suffering from severe eye strain. So I have three questions for you guys:

1) Do you notice that using this this tablet (and E ink screens in general) reduces the strain on your eyes?
2) I'd be mainly interested in just browsing the internet (and perhaps use some android apps). Does the browser function properly?
3) I've heard that there are security issues with its version of Android? How true is this?

I greatly appreciate the replies!

I'm gonna ask the right questions first:

1. Do you wear Contacts/Glasses, if not have you had a eye checkup recently for this issue?
2. The e-ink display refreshes slow it can work for simple reading in a browser but not all websites look good on e-ink and the stock browser is pretty bad I would use one like chrome.
3. you can get E-ink displays for the computer that do refresh fast but they are expensive so I would not get one unless you find you need it.
4. E-ink screens are all kinda the same in quality minus the front light and ppi so if your in the US go to a Barnes and Nobles and look at a glowlight 3 on demo to see how it treats your eyes ( this is a 6 inch not 7.8 device though).

Start there.

The security is mostly minor. I would not keep sensitive apps on this device as it's not encrypted and if you know what your doing you can dump its eMMC off it if stolen.

Thanks for your reply man! I'll answer everything:

1. I wear glasses that correct my astigmatism and provide a small magnifying effect. I went to an eye doctor recently who told that other than my astigmatism my eyes are fine.

2. I assume you can download Chrome on the tablet?

3. Those monitors are crazy expensive so not worth it. Besides, my main issues are at work where I just can't install an e ink monitor. I basically need something for home that doesn't strain my eyes.

4. Not from the US unfortunately.

Did you tell them during the exam you have this issue at work? Might need reading glasses for just the monitor also your monitor at work might use PWM so that can cause fatigue and headaches too if your sensitive to that. Does your phone do this too?

Chrome does come come from the play store off the tablet.
