Amazon (and probably other of the usual suspects) has the _The New American Heart Association Cookbook: 9th Edition_ marked down to _$1.99_. The retail price for the _digital_ edition appears to be $18.99, so that's a percentage markdowns of . . . uh . . . well . . . a lot.

This book is massive, having 540 pages.

What you're thinking may be what I was thinking: a cookbook of healthy-for-you food cannot possibly have recipes of food that actually _tastes_ good. A 4.2-star rating indicates otherwise. And I will say this: the 3 or 4 free recipes, given in the book's "description" area, look like they make dishes that are to-die-for.

Seeing the posts about the Keto diet made me wonder what it was all about. "The ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis." Healthline.com.

It seems like the once-hot Atkins diet has gone out of style. I wonder why.

I have heard of ketosis. A running partner, back in the days when I was running 6 and more miles at a time, mentioned that a runner would go into the state of ketosis at a point while running. I didn't know what that involved, and didn't bother to ask him (I didn't want to appear stoopid). Anyway, I would much rather go into ketosis by eating hamburgers (without the bun--there's a lot of carbohydrates in it) and french fries and stuff like that than running (running is not an option for me now anyway) to get to that point!

ADDENDUM: Oops! French fries would be "out" on this diet!
