Julius Katz and Archie by Dave Zeltserman is currently FREE at Amazon UK. The second in the series of collected stories. I read the first collection back in 2014 and put the next one on my wishlist. Today it came up as free!

Thanks! I really liked the first volume and have been waiting for the second, myself. It's also free at Amazon in the US.

I really like Gail Bowen's Joanne Kilbourn series, but most of the individual titles in the series are an insane $11.99 each in the US, even for the very old backlist.

Now two omnibuses have dropped in price and provide a great way to get a bunch of titles in this series if you are interested.

The Joanne Kilbourn Mysteries, Volume 2, apa The Further Investigations of Joanne Kilbourn, contains three titles, and is priced at $6.99 at Kindle and Kobo US, down from $14.99. Titles include: A Colder Kind of Death, A Killing Spring, and Verdict in Blood.
Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004JKM6CM
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...undle-volume-2

The Joanne Kilbourn Mysteries, Volume 3, contains six titles and is priced at $8.99, down from (again insane) $51.99. Titles include: The Last Good Day; The Endless Knot; The Brutal Heart; The Nesting Dolls; Kaleidoscope; and The Gifted.
Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MSRYONW
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...undle-volume-3

Sadly the first omnibus with the first three titles, The Joanne Kilbourn Mysteries, Volume 1, apa The Early Investigations of Joanne Kilbourn, is not on sale right now, so if you want to read in order, you'll have to pony up $12.99 to do so (but still not bad if you compare to $11.99 each individually). Links provided just in case you're a "read-in-order-er".

Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...undle-volume-1

The Stone Hawk (Miss Pink Book 10) by Gwen Moffat

(First published Macmillan April 1989)

In a remote corner of Utah, the community on Salvation Canyon seems a sanctuary in an intimidating land of stone.

However, there is a history of stern Mormonism and cattle-rustling, while prehistoric Indians have left a legacy which the residents protect fiercely. In such a place there must be secrets. And so when Birdie, a young half-Indian girl so avid to discover the truth of ancient legends, disappears, the tension explodes to the surface.

A bunch of mostly fairly recent price drops in the Goldy Schultz series by Diane Mott Davidson, to £0.99 and £1.99 each. Some of the titles pulled up by the link are older price drops, but too hard to sort out...

Thanks for that. I've been slowly picking up the 87th Precinct as they go on sale and the next one I needed, book 3 was one of the $0.99 books.

About 5 years ago (?) they were all on sale for 99 cents, which prompted me to buy them all.

There was a discussion thread, at that time, on this event.

Another rare and short-lived price drop on a Travis McGee title, by John D MacDonald...

Dress Her in Indigo is the 11th in the series and has dropped to $1.99 today as part of the US Kindle Daily Deal, matched at Kobo US.

The McGee titles are normally ridiculously expensive, in the US at least, but as I've looked back over the last couple of years, they seem to have been going on sale, very briefly, one-by-one, every few months, without many (or any?) repeats. So, all of this is a long winded way of saying, grab it immediately if you want it. No hesitation, do not pass Go, just grab it .

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Dress-Her-Ind...dp/B008WOO7FK/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/dress-her-in-indigo

Spoiler:
Quote:
From a beloved master of crime fiction, Dress Her in Indigo is one of many classic novels featuring Travis McGee, the hard-boiled detective who lives on a houseboat.

Travis McGee could never deny his old friend anything. So before Meyer even says please, McGee agrees to accompany him to Mexico to reconstruct the last mysterious months of a young woman’s life—on a fat expense account provided by the father who has lost touch with her. They think she’s fallen in with the usual post-teenage misfits and rebels. What they find is stranger, kinkier, and far more deadly.

“To diggers a thousand years from now, the works of John D. MacDonald would be a treasure on the order of the tomb of Tutankhamen.”—Kurt Vonnegut

All Meyer’s friend wants to know is whether his daughter was happy before she died in a car accident south of the border. But when McGee and Meyer step foot in the hippie enclave in Oaxaca that had become Bix Bowie’s last refuge, they get more than they bargained for.

Not only had Bix made a whole group of dangerous, loathsome friends, but she was also mixed up in trafficking heroin into the United States. By the time she died, she was a shell of her former self. And the more McGee looks into things, the less accidental Bix’s death starts to seem.

The second (publication) or fourth (reissue) Inspector Maigret novel is on sale. The Carter of ‘La Providence’ By Georges Simenon is $1.99 at Amazon.

Quote:
A tragic tale of lost identity, and a mystery that only Inspector Maigret can solve

“What was the woman doing here? In a stable, wearing pearl earrings, her stylish bracelet and white buckskin shoes! She must have been alive when she got there because the crime had been committed after ten in the evening. But how? And why? And no one had heard a thing! She had not screamed. The two carters had not woken up.”

Inspector Maigret is standing in the pouring rain by a canal. A well-dressed woman, Mary Lampson, has been found strangled in a stable nearby. Why did her glamorous, hedonistic life come to such a brutal end here? Surely her taciturn husband Sir Walter knows—or maybe the answers lie with the crew of the barge La Providence.
