So would I . It's a possibility anyway. Although I'd be happy with a 7" screen. Last edited by Wearever; 03-25-2019 at 04:33 PM. |

An 8’’ Voyage sounds too similar to the Kobo Aura One. An 8’’ Oasis, now that I would buy!!! |

But the Oasis has a smaller screen (7"), has thinner bezels, is less thick, and has a smaller battery (I assume); the Voyage will also need more lights to get the even lighting of the Oasis?

True, it does. But amazon was rocking the asymmetry first! I just prefer Amazons devices over Kobos. Tired of Kobos shonky quality control. My Oasis 2 (and it’s replacement) have been quality experiences from the get-go. Too frightened to try out the Forma. Not playing the Kobo device lottery ever again. |

Hrmmmm, there might have been others, but the only ereaders that really get me excited are those by Kindle and Kobo. All the others just kinda seem like pale imitators to me. I also love how Amazon devices have that ‘premium’ feel to them, whereas the Kobos just seem a bit plastick-y. *prepares for huge backlash* Last edited by cerem0ny; 03-29-2019 at 12:52 AM. |

GoodEReader says this new Kindle Basic has an E ink Carta screen. If it does, that's great, but why isn't Amazon advertising that? EDIT: A couple reviewers say it has an E ink Carta screen so, if that's confirmed, that's good news. Last edited by rcentros; 04-10-2019 at 06:06 AM. |

GoodEReader is not renowned for veracity.

I should have been specific and said a couple OTHER reviewers say it has an E ink Carta screen. One being Endgadget. And two German publications, ComputerBase and ComputerBild also claim it has an E ink Carta screen. I'm still waiting for confirmation from one of the two "Nate" bloggers. EDIT: The eBook Reader blog also says it's got a Carta screen. So it's looking good from my point of view. Last edited by rcentros; 04-11-2019 at 06:37 AM. |

It's definitely based on the same HW platform as the PW4, so, that's plausible.

To be fair they seem to say "increased contrast" with pretty much every release, and it's usually just marketing spiel isn't it? Was there really any difference between the original grey K4 and the black version from a year later for example?

Nathan from the eBook Reader blog said that he noticed better contrast in his review of the new Kindle, although the addition of the frontlight was the bigger upgrade.

No, it isn't. Contrast is measured with a photometer and when eInk say, for example, that there's a 25% contrast improvement between Pearl and Carta screens, that's an objective measurement, not a subjective opinion.
