Lol, did that on a PW1. Accidentally used KOReader for PW2 instead of K5. Surprisingly, it ran with only a couple of crashes.

It wasn't until I was updating KOReader on a PW3 and PW4 that I realized I used the PW2 package on the PW1 by mistake.

I don't see much that could make it more than a reader mostly since I never had one before. This one is sweet, and cost $11 USD ... As a Reader. I have a Java app that scrolls text, but their "experimental" browser doesn't do it out-of-the-box or I'm missing something. So I want to put in mozilla instead. I have to get,

The link to the original thread is helpfully using the "MRPI" acronym, the name in the listing reads "MR Package Installer", and the filename is actually "mrinstaller" ;D.

(Can you tell that this was originally developed in quite a hurry? ).

Hi everyone! Haven't been around here in a couple years! Decided to turn on my wifi for a split second the other day to my Kindle Voyage and had 5.10.3 automatically downloaded while I was looking. Rookie mistake.

Anyway, can anyone offer me help on whether I can still jailbreak this puppy? Just want the custom screensavers. Any help would be much appreciated!

If you already had it jailbroken, you could try to apply the recent hotfix to see if it maintains the jailbreak.

Looks like you are SOL. Me too. I just bought a used Voyage on Craigslist that was updated to 5.10.2 and never jailbroken. I wish everyone would jailbreak strait out of the box.

Not completely, you still have a serial port and can jailbreak that way. Now Oasis buyers, THEY are SOL if they let it update.

There is good documentation available, but keep in mind you need to use the proper equipment and procedures or you will soon have a spare screen instead of a Kindle. Definitely not for someone with ten thumbs like me to try.

Hi NiLuJe, I have a jailbroken Kindle DXG with your tools and I tried to install your latest snapshots (2019-03-10) to upgrade the binaries.

I was able to update the jailbreak, but for all the other .bin files (fonts, python, screensaver) the menu item "Update your Kindle" in Settings is greyed out when the Update_*.bin is in place. I'm 100% sure I'm using the right files (named "k2_dx_k3"). If I try to put the latest stable versions instead, the menu item does become enabled — so this is being triggered by something different in those .bin files.

Is this deliberate? I didn't try yet using the Package Installer, I prefer doing it the normal way. It's the first time that I experience the .bin files being "rejected".
