Getting an average of the ebooks in my collection, less that 1MB. I have several that are heavy in graphics (cookbooks with their high res images for each recipe, for example). The Best and the Lightest from the Food Network clocks in at 367MB with a group of others not far behind. |

What change to the Clara would cause you to upgrade? Waterproofing aside, there's no guarantee that the next model will be easy to open to change the SD card and I don't see Kobo or any other reader manufacturer making SD card swapping a priority. They haven't for years. |

especially when the only way i can increase it if i'm luck and don't break it in the process is by voiding my guarantee/warranty by putting in another larger GB SD card, again that doesn't interest me in the slightest and neither does the Comfort light unless it's orange like on the KA1/H20 V2 i don't want the yellow Comfort light that's on the Clara HD/Forma. the only new 6" Kobo ereader that would interest me like i already mentioned in an earlier post would be something very much like the H20 v2 with a plastic substrate, orange Comfort light and page turn buttons on the sides similar to the Kindle voyage. anything less wouldn't interest me unless all my 3 Aura 6" broke and i had no choice but to buy a new one. taking away the external SD micro slot was a huge disappointment to me mainly because i have no real reason to buy a new Kobo ereader unless it as something really different/features to offer like a plastic substrate and physical page turn buttons. edit. imho why buy a new ereader if it doesn't have the features on it you want? and your existing ereader in my case the Aura 6" does have a far more useful feature (external SD card slot) than any other feature on the latest kobo ereaders/models. best wishes koboy ![]() Last edited by koboy; 03-20-2019 at 06:12 PM. |

![]() Like you I'm perfectly happy with my original Aura. I bought a Glowlight Plus because I wanted a waterproof reader for the tub (where I like to read fairly often). The Glowlight Plus' software isn't as feature rich as my Kobo (which is why I still do the bulk of my reading on it). But the 300ppi Carta screen on the Plus does make my Aura's 212ppi Pearl screen look not so good. And the orange light on the Glowlight 3 makes the Aura (and the Plus) seem harsh by comparison when reading in a darkened room. Admittedly, these are all little things. Reader tech is so undemanding, I could quite honestly still happily read on my old Simple Touch w/Glowlight. But a reader with Kobo's software, a 300PPI Carta screen, waterproof with 8GB (or better) of storage would check enough boxes to be worth an upgrade to me. And I'd suspect Kobo's next 6" reader will have them. Their larger ones already do, so I don't see why they wouldn't. |

To me it looks like a scratch in the panel, causing light to scatter. Can you feel anything with your fingernail?

I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered myself a Clara. Come on no light bleed! Surprisingly, last night Walmart updated the predicted ETA from Friday to today. That's way faster than I expected.
Now I just have to hope that my prediction that Kobo's next 6" reader will have color changing frontlight and waterproofing is off or at least doesn't happen for a while. I'm planning on giving my five year old Aura to my uncle. I have to say, the device still works perfectly and I have noticed no issues with the battery. I'm very impressed with my first Kobo. |

In my case on the first day I added a tempered glass screen protector and a cover for it. Actually ordered them from amazon at the same time as I ordered my Clara and had them here days before my reader showed up. Same things I do with every new cell phone. Since you've already had trouble damaging your screens / peeling you might consider a glass protector for yours. Didn't know that I'd ever need it for my reader but they are cheap and have saved my phone screen so many many many times over. They go on easy and after I never even notice it's there. I have No luck putting on screen protectors. They either end up with air bubbles or dirt between them...
![]() This new one came from Kobo Directly New had Both air & dirt trapped. ![]() |

I've never used a screen protector for any of my ereaders. I just put them in a case and that's good enough.

Both of mine were IN cases! They still got damaged! Not Dropped Nothing Dropped on them. 1st one I was trying to Uncurl that Page curl in the corner NO Fingernails just the tip of my finger. 2 .... 1/2 inch 1/4 inch wide strips just curled up on the tip of my finger! The 2nd one I was removing a piece of dust & the wax just came off!

I was replying to your comment about having trouble applying screen protectors. I don't apply screen protectors to any of my ereaders. Incidentally, I just bought a Clara myself and out of the box, there is a sheet of clear plastic on the screen with a giant tab on the bottom that hangs off the screen. This plastic should be removed. It is not a screen protector for the customer. |
