	When working on a Kindle, there isn't enough distance to the support post to allow you to reach at least halfway on some of the boards. The tablet I was using (Some of the pics posted here where taken with it) had an HDMI output. I hooked that to a 53 inch TV/Monitor. Now that is a lot of magnification.

			I suggest to look around Rohm PMIC BD71815AGW because I have experience with simmilar errors in log and behaviour. Let me explain. I found also KT3s with fast battery drain. Depleted in 2 hours. So I opened it and found out with voltmetr that battery is still almost fully charged (4.09V). After battery reconnection I booted device again to saw that now it shows 85% and the percentage of battery went down as fast as before. Kindle only „thinks“ that voltage goes down.So why fake draining? Connecting to serial line I saw in protocol some coulomb counter errors(and also those mentioned by dom123dom - DEBUG:keypad.c:105:keypad…..) . I booted to bist and tried folowing: Code: 
	bist > vni batt vol FG voltage =4044mV bist > vni batt temp FG Temperature = 31C bist > vni batt curr FG Current = -1351mA bist > vni batt cap FG Capacity = 85 Percent After replacement of shunt is everything allright. After 2 months there is no fake draining and no more DEBUG:keypad.c….. errors. Second device with fake draining I was playing finished exactly in same point as experienced dom123dom. But I messed it up during soldering and I removed tiny cap next to shunt. I was able finaly to put it on place but something went wrong and it got stuck here: Code:

It was a good experience to learn how to do it but I'm disappointed it didn't fix it! I'm learning slowly...where did you get a replacement shunt from and how do you replace it? 	Meanwhile I was playing around with another piece with same issue. I tried only to reheat the resistor and it has been working for 13 days till now. I think about 2 possibilities. 1)Change of the resistivity to right value because of the heat(hardly possible but I´m not an expert). 2)"Reset or recalibration" of values in BD71815AGW after soldering. There is significant time gap (5-10min) after soldering. Heat protection I guess. Could be the heat a side effect of values reset in IC?  |

			I tried to warm up 030 resistor to remove it, I'm finding it extremely difficult, tried tweezers, tried a small screwdriver to pry off, tried my soldering iron. 	So anyway I warmed it all up and thought i may as well try charger and see what happens. I still get the same boot, it stops at the same point...the output tells me 46 degrees.....but now I have an orange charge light! @Bembela What method did you use to remove the shunt?  |

			Soldering iron station. It consumes a lot of heat especialy one side of resistor. I tried also heat gun but after that there were black stain on the display. Eink is sensitive to heat. So be careful. I`m using notebook cooling pad to avoid screen damage.

			Still same as before (as below), but the difference is now I get an orange charging light which I was not getting before. I've seen a few reports here that leaving the kindle on a long charge on wall charger can fix errors so I'll probably leave it overnight and see if I get a charged battery with green light in the morning (10pm here now).
