Grrrrr
Most Sundays I'm responsible for the videos and slides to accompany our church service. The videos etc play from a laptop attached to external monitors (one by the laptop which is mirrored to two large TVs at the front). Today our minister was not prepared (she'd forgotten the time change) so when I arrived she'd got the laptop out and was busy prepping the slides. Unfortunately (not sure if this is part of the problem) she'd not attached the external monitor. I finally got access to the laptop at 1030, attached the cable; no image on the external monitor. Tried the key stroke to enable monitor; rebooted; powered everything off. No go Sigh What a PITA It makes singing the songs rather challenging. |

Seaweed snacks/sheets
Soooo...I'm vexed.
I used to snarf Annie Chun's Seaweed Snacks (sea salt) like there was no tomorrow. But then, she discontinued the regular line, and made the Sea Salt flavor organic. It's not the same. I've been trying to find another brand that's remotely as good, and so far, no luck. Why can't companies leave their great products the hell ALONE? I mean, really? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.........is it so much to ask? I'm testing a line now that's "okay," but not great. My Maine Coons love it, too. (sigh). ![]() Hitch |

For me it's Maggie Beer's Affogato ice cream - no longer made, and Morpeth Bakery bread - only available at the bakery (3 hour drive). I'm not sure that it's made in the 1847 bakery's wood fired ovens these days - so its probably not the same. I get why the bread's harder to get, the Arnott family's main business these days is supplying raw materials and equipment to the 'artisan' bakeries that have sprung up in recent years. But I don't get why the ice cream is no longer made, it seemed to 'go off the shelf' just as quickly as the other Maggie Beer ice creams. Maybe because it was unique, far as I know it was the only commercial Affogato Ice Cream available here. Or maybe the Affogato maker got another job. Or maybe some marketing guru thought it sounded too much like Avocado ![]() BR |

And now I seem to have lost a hard contact lens
![]() Luckily I do have an old pair plus I have a brand new pair waiting at the optometrist (she was having troubles with the power of the new pair, so ordered one to try [at no cost] and when I picked up that pair ordered another stronger pair that is now in). I was waiting for the weather to stabilize before heading downtown to get them. Plus it's the left lens, and the left eye does not see very well at all. I'm currently waiting for a referral to a specialist for it (and apparently it's hard to find one for the condition she's seen in the eye). What a day Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk |

Bakery bread is one of those things that drive me nuts, too. I've developed a way to successfully freeze bakery breads, but it's harder to find good candidates for it in our local stores. Hitch |

affogato, avocado, advocaat, avvocato - maybe that's why Maggie stopped making it, some wanted green, some wanted yellow. and some wanted to have an argument with it.
Affogato it means drowned, traditionally its a scoop of vanilla gelato with a double shot espresso poured over it - Maggie Beer at least got the flavour right. Starstrucks would probably smother it with nuts, reconstituted raspberry coulis, salt, and caramel. The best ice cream I ever had was apricot from a street stall in Verona, a long long time ago. I would have been about 12, it was on a school holiday trip - Le Grande Tour, on the cheap. Been searching for it ever since. I like Syrian ice cream, its sticky/chewy, I wonder if they still make it, the Turks make it here - but it's not as good as I remember from Syria BR |

The video in Church is now working
I was so close to signing it yesterday ;( The cable from the laptop goes to a VGA amplifier which in turn feeds a monitor besides the laptop and screens at the front of the Church. The input cable was loose ;( That was the one thing I didn't check |

Hey coworker, yeah, I'm gonna be a bitch because I'm tired of doing everything for everyone and you made me mad. Not gonna be the person that fixes everything anymore.

I woke up this morning to my neighbor rapping about my alarm mistakenly going off at 5am and a gun shot nearby... Life in the ghetto.
I wonder if she pulled the trigger? |

Why are some prescription drugs packaged in units of 28 pills and others as 30?

A 4 week supply vs a month supply would be my guess.
My mantra for the week will be don't engage the idiot coworker again. |

If you take several medications a day for a chronic condition as I do, it would make sense to have them all the same - IMO 28 days (4 weeks) would be best.
Two of the drugs, of which I take one pill a day, come from the same manufacturer, one them comes in strips of 7x2 pills the other one 3x5. My doctor changed my beta-blocker a while back, the old one was 28 pills the new one is 30 pills per packet. Doesn't make any sense to me. BR |

There are times I really appreciate living in a small town with a pharmacist who knows my name. I don't have to remember (or look up) what the prescription number is, or worry about how many are in a packet. It's easy -- the Province allows 90 days worth, so I get 90 pills of the ones that are once a day. 270 of the ones that are three times a day. Or, in the case of the one that I cut in half and take once a day? Yup. 45 pills. Get down near the end, call him up, and "Hey, Mo. It's Charlie. Could you refill my puffer please. Thanks, one of us will be in tomorrow or the next day. "
