I won't be making any patches to modify the top-left menu entries, as it will greatly increase the work needed to update the patches for very little benefit.

I could change the bottom-left link to a link to the browser or beta features menu if you want.

Also, on a side note, I'm currently working on a patch to add a clock option to the page number display at the bottom. This is the hardest one I've attempted so far (I need to make some space to put the code, call the QTime constructor and methods, modify the strings, and learn more about the c++ calling convention). I'm doing this patch partly for learning, partly for fun, and partly because it is useful. I'm about half way through making it (I've already found the space to put the code, added the option, set the string format, and am currently figuring out the c++ ABI so I can actually get the time). Depending on the complexity of the finished patch, this may or may not be shipped and updated with the rest of the patches.

yes, it would be great to have a shortcut to beta functionalities directly on the homescreen

There is. Have a look at the one I made in libnickel which replaces the adobe page numbers setting with invert screen.

Is it possible to make the collections screen use normal text instead of italic one? I attempted to create my own patch for that, and though I did manage to disable italic text (on more parts of the UI than I hoped for), it also created a few bugs, such as no padding on the brightness or WiFi popup dialogues.

This bug was posted several months ago, and you were very busy then, and I didn't noticed any info that this bug was fixed.(maybe I missed?)

There's not much I can do about that bug, as it involves side-effects of the configuration system.

I might be able to save you some time with that as I've been customising the cosmetic appearance of GUI book lists (Title, Author, Series, Author_list, Collection_list) on my own devices for quite a long time.

However, my "solution" is not without its possible longer term support considerations. So, rather than just posting a new patch here, I'll PM it to you later today to see what you think about its practicality.

I know there are patches that are supposed to change the book cover sizes, but I haven't noticed any difference when using them. All my book covers (new home screen and in the library) are all so small. Is it possible to make them even larger, say in a 3x2 grid per page?

I have been trying to do this but have yet to find the css that controls the covers there. I can remove all of the rows except for the books and make the recent books row take the whole page but not resize them yet. I kind of doubt they will automatically move to another row if the enlarged setting is just making them large enough to cut off the 4th book.

I have yet to figure out how to get objdump to disassemble libnickel because it says it cannot disassemble that format so I have been just doing trial and error.
